Lets see if that gets her to clean her room
mckayleesmom wrote: Yesterday was cleaning day and Mckaylee didn't pick up her toys....Today I told her she couldn't watch any tv or play outside till her toys were picked up...Its almost 5:15 and she was still in her room goofing off. I made her watch me set the timer on the stove for 10 minutes and if her toys weren't in her toybox and there was still no improvement I was comming in with a trashbag and she was losing her toys for as long as it took to get her to start keeping her room clean......10 minutes was up and I did just that.....The toys are going on a shelf in the garage.....When I started chucking them in the bag she was screaming...no, not that one, not that one.....She only has a couple toys left and I told her that if I came back in again the rest were going too.

luvbug00 replied: good for you, it's soo hard to put your foot down somtimes but she's a smart cookie. she'll get the hint
Calimama replied: Good for you!!!
luvmykids replied: I've done that too, only they really went in the trash As a matter of fact, it's about time to do it again
AlexsPajamaMama replied: good for you brianne! i remember you mentioning the trash bag trick before, does it work with her?
msoulz replied: My dad did that to me once and then I went trash picking. It was effective!
kit_kats_mom replied: Must be something in the air. I did the same thing today. Only I blamed it on someone else. I asked them 3 times to clean their playroom to no avail. When K went to school and L was asleep, I took everything that was on the floor in the playrrom, living room and thier room and tossed it into a big laundry basket and locked it in the office closet. Then I left a note about how the house fairy came by and was very disappointed that the place was a wreck so she called her friend Mina, the naughty elf, to come by and help. Mina takes all of the stuff on the floor to her castle for safekeeping, and when the house fairy reports back that the areas are tidy, Mina will return the toys.
The kids were kind of upset but also kind of awestruck. Katherine tried to play it off like she didn't care though. Tonight before bed however, she said "lauren, that book doesn't go on the floor. We need to keep it nice in here so Mina will bring our stuff back"
AlexsPajamaMama replied: Great job mom..I mean Mina...sounds like it stuck!
Teesa®© replied: I like that!!
I'm usually pretty relaxed when it comes to toy picking up, unless they're not in the bedrooms. All I expect during the week is that there's a good path to the door for nighttime bathroom trips. They both have pretty decent sized rooms, so I'm not bothered by it. On the weekends, though, it's toy pick up time.
Books, on the other hand, I'm VERY anal about. They have a bookcase [I share mine] and I do expect all books to be put back. It's in our living room, so if they don't put the books back, well, they have about 200 books.... you get the picture, lol.
Oh, and puzzles too. Nothing worse than a 500 piece puzzle and it's missing ONE piece.

A&A'smommy replied: I LOVE IT!!!!!!!
I have done the same thing Brianne!!!
kit_kats_mom replied: Hey man, maybe but the house fairy usually works wonders in our house. They've just been getting slack lately. Besides, who needs all that crying and screaming? They listen better to elves and faries anyway.
redchief replied: True dat.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: I had to do the same thing when Emily was small, but now she keeps her room so clean! Claudia loves cleaning her room as long as Emily will go up and talk to her while she is doing it, but it does get done! Spencer, well he's a funny little guy, he really doesn't have a lot of toys!
