Lexi is really sick - might get a lil long

lisar wrote: Well Lexi is really sick. I got a call from her teacher Friday and she threw up 7 times within in a 30min period. While I was on the phone with the teacher the school called me and told me she was throwing up in the office. I ofcourse went and got her and picked up her and took her to the dr and they said she just had some stomach virus and gave her a shot of Vistarl (sp??) It was supposed to stop her from throwing up. Well at about 6pm she started again. So I called the dr and they told me to take her to the emergency room. Lexi has a history of getting dehydrated so I have to be careful. So we went to the ER and they took her straight back after seeing that she was so dehydrated they put in an IV with fluids and did blood work and tested her urine. The dr was really worried because he was having problems waking her up. So i signed all the addmission papers. They were going to keep her. Well after the fluids got into her about 3 hours later (we were still in the ER) She came around and told the doctor that she felt better. They gave her a shot of something I cant remember the name of it. They call it liquid gold apparently they give it to kids after Chemo therapy to settle thier stomach. Well they gave her that and went ahead and let us go home. That was all Friday. Yesterday she wasnt any better I let her have a SIP of water and 10 minutes later it came up. She hasnt ate since Friday morning. She isnt hungry. All she has done is sleep. I have to go in there and wake her up once an hour and make her take a sip of her drink. I let her eat a little bit of applesacue earlier she had 1 bite of it and then laid back over and went back to sleep. I dont know I am just worried about her. I was thinking about taking her back to the ER. Sorry this got so long I just need to vent and get it off my chest. Thanks for listing if you made it this far.

lisar replied: Thanks everyone I just woke her up and made her eat half a piece of toast. (no butter) And I had to bribe her to get her to eat that. (I let her have a sip of sweet tea. ) That was the deal. She has held it down so far. So wish me luck. She holds this down I might let her have something with some more substanance (sp?) with it. I am hoping. I really dont wanna end up in the hospital again.

MyBabeMaddie replied: What about pedialyte popsicles? That drug that they gave her that they give to Chemo patients, they gave that to Maddie in the ER its a miracle! It's called Zofran or Zofram.. I can't remember but we got a prescription for it, we never ended up filling it (most insurances don't cover it and its like $100) for 3 doses or something rediculous like that.. I hope she feels better!

Mommy2BAK replied: Poor girl!!! I hope she feels better soon!!! hug.gif

Celestrina replied: I hope she gets better soon! When ds was sick this winter the Dr. said there was a really nasty stomach virus going around. Don't forget to take care of yourself.

MommytoTommy replied: oh my goodness! i hope she is feelin better! sad.gif
ill say a prayer for her...

Cece00 replied: If she starts feeling nauseated or throws up, you can ask for phenergan or zofran to help her.

Meanwhile, just offer her lots of liquids & foods that are easy to eat: popsicles, gatorade, pedialytle, soup, etc.

Hope she feels better soon!

Twelve Volt Man replied: Poor girl. Get well soon!

3xsthefun replied: Oh, no! Poor girl. sad.gif Hope she feels better soon! hug.gif

lovemy2 replied: hug.gif I would take her back to make sure she is still hydrated - my girlfriend just went through this with BOTH her kids - had them both in the ER dehydrated from the exact same bug....it took them a FULL week to get better - her daughter was hardest hit - never got off the couch for like 5 days.....

Hang in there - hug.gif to you and Lexi

DansMom replied: Those stomach things are awful---the dehydration is always an issue with us, too, because Daniel is so skinny to begin with. I'm glad Lexi is feeling better---keep the fluids going. hug.gif
