Little Early for Names but help us out - Girl names

coasterqueen wrote: Okay, DH and I have pretty much decided on a boys name but we are stuck on girls names. I know we could save ourselves some hassle if we'd just wait a couple more months when we'd be able to tell by sono if it is a boy or girl, but we wanted to look at girls names now.

He just emailed me the names above. He's stuck on Nicole for a middle name, lol.

Our last name is Nation so you have info to go when voting on a name.

Which one do you like if any and why?

MommyToAshley replied: Those are all great. I love the name Ashlyn.. maybe because it is close to Ashley's name. blush.gif Have you thought of using it as a first name, maybe... Ashlyn Nicole?

I also like Megan... so I voted for Megan Nicole

coasterqueen replied:
Yeah, I liked Ashlyn for a first name but for some reason he didn't pick it that way. This is coming from the guy who wanted to use Kimmy for a first name. I like Kim, Kimberly but not Kimmy for a first name. rolling_smile.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: I to like the Idea of Ashlyn Nicole

Nicole is a great middle name rolling_smile.gif its Kaitlin's we agreed on her middle name long before the first name, it just seemed to go with all our names we had picked out

amynicole21 replied:
Well, I have to agree with you there! rolling_smile.gif

DansMom replied: I like Megan Nicole. I'm a traditionalist when it comes to names, and so I would be more likely to choose Rebecca over Becca and Nicole over Nikki---one can always use the nickname anyway, but a more formal first name can be helpful in certain professions (like if she becomes a doctor or a lawyer). That's thinking pretty far ahead of course! I know a Betsy whose given name is Betsy not Elizabeth, and she complained about this as she graduated law school. Same thing with a Sally I know---she's a professional therapist, and wishes she had a more formal first name. However, I like all of the names---beautiful choices.

kit_kats_mom replied: I like all of them, although the initals MNN sounds really close to M&M's. LOL

I agree that I'd probably stick with classic names (rebecca over becca) and use the nicknames if you decide to later.

Also, not sure if you care or not but I think Emily and Megan are both really, really popular right now. Dh and I made a pact to look up our name choices online and we weren't allowed to use any of the top 25 for a first name. They are listed on http://www.babynames.com/V5/index.php?content=pop03&go1=Go

I was one of 5 Cary's (carrie, Keri etc) in most of my schools...what a pain. LOL

coasterqueen replied:
Yeah, I try not to go by initials because Kylie's is K.E.N. biggrin.gif which is not great, but least it's not like A.S.S. like my friend did. rolling_smile.gif

Megan grew on me but out of the 4 he sent me Ashlyn was my favorite. I just talked to him and now he says he likes it too and it's between Megan Nicole and Ashlyn Nicole. tongue.gif I pick the second one, lol.

As far as what's popular. I looked into that when having Kylie and I swore I saw that her name was not a popular one but I looked later on maybe last year and found out it was a popular name. rolleyes.gif Can't win, lol.

amynicole21 replied: The only thing I'd say about Ashlyn is that it's sometimes hard when the last letter of the first name is the same as the first letter of the last... It's difficult to separate the two. My friend's ds's name is Connor Ryan and it all sounds like a big long word to me... not to mention his name always reminds me of the word gonorreah, but I digress. tongue.gif

coasterqueen replied:
Good point. I brought that up at lunch but both DH and I have that problem, he was quick to point that out. Mine is Karen Nation and his is Ryan Nation. biggrin.gif SO that won't be a factor for him. Although Ashlyn is a bit more of a handful that our names are wink.gif.

I have to ask how do you associate Conner Ryan and gonnorhea? rolling_smile.gif They don't sound similar to me. rolling_smile.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied:

Say it fast! LOL! It does sound similar! rolling_smile.gif

I love Ashlyn Nicole. I go with the majority, here. wink.gif

momof2girls replied: I voted Emily cause I just think its a super sweet name!

lsjulee replied: Me voted Emily Nicole too. I love Meagan too. But Emily appeals to me more. Cos I know many Emilys who has nice character and very approachable.

Elle replied: Megan Nicole!

5littleladies replied: I voted for Megan Nicole, but of course I am biased!! wink.gif I love Ashlynn Nicole too though. smile.gif

A&A'smommy replied: I Ashlyn Nichole I think that is really pretty wub.gif

mama3x replied: I voted for Emily Nicole only because for some reason I didn't like both the first and last names ending with the same letter.

But between the two you and your DH are "stuck" on, I would pick Ashlyn (I am biased though b/c Ashlyn was the girl's name on my list when I had DS). biggrin.gif

And it is NEVER TOO EARLY for names! Although it may give you too much room for too much discussion! Have fun Karen cool.gif

Littlejojames replied: Yep i agree Emily is a really sweet name.

and its never to early to start thinking about names.

i think that its so hard choosing a girls name.

We have picked the boys name and can not come to even half way on a girls name.

Josie83 replied: I like the names Emily, Megan and Ashlyn. In fact, I think I like Ashlyn the best! Its quite unusual, she probably won't have another one in her class at school. Also, i think Kylie and Ashlyn go well together. Can I ask what boys name you've decided on, or is it a secret? I wouldn't be surprised to hear that you've changed your mind about a bazillion times before the birth though! wink.gif emlaugh.gif xx

KatieLeigh79 replied: I like the idea of Ashlyn Nicole as well wub.gif

coasterqueen replied:
for a boy we are going with Tyler Christian. wink.gif

kimberley replied: i like the more traditional names also. i voted for Megan. thumb.gif

Nicole replied: I like the name Megan Nicole, however i like them all, As my first name is Nicole biggrin.gif

~Roo'sMama~ replied: I voted Emily Nicole because it flows together so nicely and I love the name Emily. I love the sound of Ashlyn Nicole too though! happy.gif And I love Tyler Christian for a boy! biggrin.gif

FroggyJK replied: I vote Megan Nicole!!!

Megan is my daughter's name and if we have a girl this time I think Nicole will be the middle name. biggrin.gif

MamaMartie replied: I like Mgean Nicole b/c well I have a Megan so I am naturally partial to it. lol
Picking names if fun. I hope you are able to decide on one you love.

gr33n3y3z replied: If Ashlyn Nicole was there that would be my first pick.
