Little Helpers?
kit_kats_mom wrote: Is anyone's baby really "helping" them yet? Like in the kitchen or anything? I brought a dining room chair into the kitchen so that Katherine can stand on it to wash her hands. Now, anytime I'm in the kitchen she has to be up on the chair. I was making dinner yesterday and she stood at the counter with me. I broke the asparagus spears up and handed them to her to put into a bowl. That asparagus kept her busy the whole time I prepared the rest of the dinner...in the bowl...onto the counter...into the bowl...you get my drift?
Anyway, I was just wondering if any 16-17 month olds were helping around the house yet.
A&A'smommy replied: awww wow what a little sweetheart!!! (i dont know i just think its cute and soo sweet!)
MommyToAshley replied: Ashley will pick up her toys, she likes to vacuum, and wipe stuff off. But, she hasn't helped in the kitchen yet. I think mostly because I am afraid of her getting burnt and I gate off the kitchen when I am cooking.
Kat sure sounds like a great helper! WTG! She's such a little sweetie. I love your new avatar and the pigtales.
kimberley replied: that is so sweet! Jacob was the best helper a mom could ask for! he loved to help doing dishes, washing floors, dusting, preparing meals, laundry... anything at all. he started around 14 mos when he could walk well.
kit_kats_mom replied: I tried to get K to help with laundry but after the third time of her pulling either mine or DH's dirty undies out of the basket and putting them on her head she is now banned from the laundry room. It's funny but gross. I don't understand why it has to be underwear..dirty socks I could understand but undies? BLECH!
A&A'smommy replied: LOLOL and i have to EWWWWW!
MomToMany replied: LOL about the underwear thing!! Hannah does that, too! I've only just started letting Hannah help me in the kitchen, although she's been helping set the table for awhile now ( we use a lot of plastic dishes ). She's been fascinated with all my cookware and utensils for awhile now, so she's always playing with them.
amynicole21 replied: Sophia chews on dirty socks
The most she'll help with is wiping up and swiffering She just LOVES that swiffer!!!
ediep replied: that is soooo cute!!!
Jason helps me in the kitchen by following me around and closing every cabinet and drawer that I open. I have to be really quick to get what I need before he slams it shut!!!
Here is a picture of Jason trying to help.... yup, thats cereal all over the floor. He dumped it out, the started eating it!
jen replied: OUCH!!!! LOL!
Daddy of Schnoogly replied: Iain is only 13 months, but he already "helps" by taking silverware out of the dishwasher, and pulling clothes out of the dryer for us. He also "helps" me make his bottles. We use the Dr. Brown's bottles, and they have a special insert that reduces air bubbles and therefore gas. Anyway, he holds on to the insert while I make the bottle, and then when it's done, he puts the insert in, and sometimes puts the nipple on top of that too.

He loves my socks, too. The other day, he somehow dragged a pair of dirty ones into the living room. We still have no idea how he did it without our noticing!
coasterqueen replied: Kylie is a little helper! She loves unfolding all the clothes I just folded. She likes to put toys in the dryer after she's slobbered all over them. Guess she wants to dry them. She likes to take all the dishes out of the cabinets and sprawl them all over the floor. I could go on.
booey2 replied: Thomas loves to help, he has done all of the above and even tried to help himself leave the ER on Wednesday night. He asked for his boots so I gave them to him and he put them on and headed for the door. We told him he couldn't leave but he kept insisting he was going home, wearing nothing but his diaper and boots. What a sight.
aspenblue1 replied: Isabella loves to help. She will wipe off stuff and put her toys away.
kimberley replied: LMBO!! i know! i guess undies are interesting to them. Jacob used to play with my bra too he carried stuff in it!
MomToJade&Jordan replied: LOL!!!!!
Jade helps me with laundry, but does not seem to have K's love of dirty undies. She likes to help me fold her clothes. She's been doing this for a while actually. She will hand me the clothes and I will fold them. Just recently when we carry groceries in she has to help. I give her a really light bag and she will carry that thing all the way to the house. With DH gone I have to carry all of those bags in and it's hard to do that and keep track of Jade at the same time. So if she has something to carry she will follow me.
My2Carebears replied: Angel lives to help us Take care of groceries or to try folding clothes..hehehe. Right now she is pretending to Vaccum with her Popper thing
MomofTay&Sam replied: Sammy is 14 months but he loves to put the clothes in the dryer, that is his job! LOL I just put them on the door and he pushes them in. He loves to unfold all the laundry too(does that count as helping?) haha
3_call_me_mama replied: Cameron will help with laundry (he hands one article at a time to me and whines if i pick more up before he's ready) he he recently started picking up his toys when he's done playing (Hurrah! ) he also LOVES to dust ( which i admit is a really good thing cause i NEVER get around to it!) He takes a babywipe or a washcloth adn will go around the house wiping everything down, he picks up stuff and wipes under it and then puts it back. He also loves to help with dishes especially the dishwasher he puts all his silverware in it and his plates and bowls. He also loves to close it and push the start button. He also like to help sweep, he has a little broom and dustpan that he uses when i sweep. It's very cute to watch. He's also really into folding laundry (or should i say unfolding it!! He also likes to throw it down the spiral staircase the leads to our rooms downstairs, he laughs with delgiht as a pile goes over! Little Monster!
