Logan's cardiology appointment - (that was fun) NOT!!
MyBrownEyedBoy wrote: Okay, so last night Logan and I talked about how the doctor was going to use a little wand to take pictures of his heart. And how he would have to be still, but we could watch TV and also see the pictures of his heart. He kept telling Daddy that he had to see the "doctor and picture of my heart". It was very cute. Fast forward to this morning. OMG, he woke up in an awful mood. Wouldn't cooperate with anything I said and didn't want to go take pictures of his heart. I got him calmed down, he still wasn't excited anymore, and we headed off to the hospital. Got there, waited around for doctor to show up for about 20 minutes. Logan did great during that part, he watched the fish in the aquarium and went potty twice. Then into the echocardiogram suite we went. He hated it. Started screaming immediately. Didn't want to take off his shirt (he knew he would have to show the doctor his "pirate line"). Didn't want to lay down, didn't want Dora (it was what was on TV), cried like a mad man. Doc finally got some decent pictures, not what we would have had if Logan had cooperated, though.
Final verdict...
Everything looks good. Logan has no signs or symptoms of any problems. Leakage across the one valve is minimal, across the other valve is worse, but still tolerable. No enlargement of the ventricles. So we're scott-free for another year. Unless Logan starts to show symptoms of heart failure. But I doubt that. Yippee!!!

redchief replied: I'm so glad the appointment went well, Kelly! I can understand Logan's foul mood, really. Let's face it, not every kid has a pirate line, but he does and he knows that pirate line or not, that hurt! Even if he doesn't remember the pain all that much, I would imagine there are a lot of negative emotions tied into a visit to his cardio doc. I suspect the poor guy didn't sleep all that well last night. Overall, I think his bravery is commendable.
DansMom replied: Oh, all in all that's wonderful news!
MommyToAshley replied: I am sorry the both of you had to go through that. Logan is such a trooper, that would be tough for anyone to go through, let alone a child his age. But, glad to hear the great news. He always looks so healthy and happy... you are doing a great job!
Danalana replied: YAY for good news!
Danalana replied: Oh, and I agree with Ed. I had surgeries when I was 2 and 3, though only on my hand. I remember going for check-ups. I didn't act up, as far as I can remember, but I know I didn't sleep well. I was SO nervous going back to that place, you know? I'm sure that was it for him too.
