Luke is here

So we induced last Tuesday, the 15th, because Luke was measuring really big. Everything was going along fine until I got my epidural. It sort of hurt going in but I numbed right up and so the dr broke my water. When he did my placenta ruptured. Luke's heart rate plummented. The did an emergency c-section. It was less than 8 minutes from the time they said c-section till Luke was out.

His lungs were "wet" and so they placed him under an oxygen hood. After abotu 4 hours under the hood they moved him to the NICU. After 24 hours they put him on a ventalator. He was on the vent from Wednesday night till Friday night when he yanked it out. They had already said it would come out Saturday morning so the dr okayed them to just leave it out and start weaning him off the oxygen. By Saturday morning he was weaned and I got to hold him for the first time Saturday afternoon. They removed his IV this morning and I got to give him a bath and nurse him for the first time. If all continues to go well he should come home Wednesday or Thursday.

God was so faithful through this week. There are so many stories of blessing that I could share. I am so thankful that he has improved so fast. He is a tough little guy!!!!!

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: Things might not have gone smoothly or as planned....but when does life ever do that I am so glad to hear he is safe and will be ok. That must have been horribly scary for you. I hope the emotional 'trauma' heals quickly so you can just enjoy your new little man.

As fast and as scarey as I am sure that all was, Luke is here and doing well now and in abit you will forget the bad parts and only have wonderful memories with many more to make

Why did your placenta rupture? I've heard of that happening with Vbacs. Was this a vbac? Regardless,, I'm so happy you and he are ok.
