moped replied: Can you tell me what that is?

scattytart replied: MRSA is a serious infection that has killed many people in the uk for the past two years the amount of deaths have risen due to dirty hospitals. Press have reported about hosptils being closed down in the uk because of this infection. It has a strong resistance to many antibiotics, and needs more toxic/ expensive meds that is dangerous to young children.

C&K*s Mommie replied: oh I am so sorry to hear this. I wish him very well. Our thoughts and prayers are with him. hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif

PrairieMom replied: Here is a site with some good info about it. Unfortunately a hospital doesn't have to be dirty to have it. My hospital is very clean, but we still have problems with it. It is spread very easily, not just by hospital employees, but also by family memebers that contact that patient.

Its sad to hear that your baby has/ may have it. Please make sure that everyone dealing with your child and you wears gloves, in the very least, and possibly gowns and masks as well. If your baby has it, most likely you will too.

Hospitals are just plain germy places. yuck. hug.gif

fashionmumofboys replied: Oh so sorry to hear this. I hope the test results show that he doesn't have it.

Prayers and thoughts will be with you and your little one.

scattytart replied: only me my husband and midwives have been near the baby none of my family members are allowed to vist, hospital rules if you have had a c-section, me and my husband are very health consious and we clean our hand with an antibacterial gel before thinking about touching our son so we can only think off it coming from the midwives as they dont wear gloves and i havent seen them wash there hands. When i mention this to them they get very sarcastic and make me fell like im wrong to be saying this. It doesnt help that i have become very emotional my husband is only alowed with me and baby during vistor times, and the baby dont sleep well a night im finding it very hard to cope and the midwives dont help much, and when they do they a rough with him, and this makes him cry more. I just wish i could go home bawling.gif

CAMSMOM1 replied:

Don't allow them to make you feel bad. This is your baby, and you know what is best. I would require anybody around your baby to wash up. And it's good that you and your DH are taking procautions.

I just prayed for you and your baby. I pray that your baby will be strengthen and healed. And that you will be able to go home soon, and enjoy your new little one. I know that it's hard hearing the statsistics on MRSA, but there are so many others that turn out fine. And I know he will. Keep us posted. And know that we are here for you.

scattytart replied: today i found out my baby doesnt have MRSA thank god, but he does have a bad urine infection and conjunctavites in his left eye, ive told all my midwives that i would like them to wear gloves when they touch my baby. One said "dont be silly, we touch plenty of babies all day and they turn out fine" at this point im getting annoyed my baby is already ill and we havent set foot out of hosptial so i replied "well that makes it worse, do you no for sure that none of this babys had any sort of infection or bacterial growth on there bodies, that you could have past on to other children" she replied " i have a right to refuse to wear gloves as i find they make babies uncomfortable. growl.gif so i said " well as a mother i have a right to tell you if you dont wear gloves then dont touch my baby at all!!!!" This was when she called the head midwife who i explained my point of view to but she thought i was over reactin to, but i stuck my ground and she allowed me to keep a box of disposable medical gloves in my room and midwives have been told they are to wear the gloves i give them before they touch my son.

does any one think i was ott wacko.gif

moped replied: As a parent you can make any request you like - you were right!

I hope he feels better right away!
