MY APPOINTMENT
Mommy2Isabella wrote: Hey everyone ...
I am back from my WONDERFUL APPOINTMENT!!
I heard ....
2 Heartbeats ... One was at 158 the other was at 132
moped replied: NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!
DID YOU SEE BOTH
OMG
CAN THEY TELL THE SEXES???????????????
moped replied: Yoohoo talk to us girl!
You are worse than me!
CantWait replied: I'm with Jenn, stop teasing us!!!!!!!!!!
Mommy2Isabella replied: No u/s we have a level 2 u/s next appointment, they didn't u/s because they heard both heatbeats!
I find out the sexes at the next appointment as well ...
The 2 heartbeats sure do explain the weird kicking!!!
moped replied: And no wonder you are feeling it so soon too!
So 2 babies FOR SURE!!!!
THis is very cool!
Mommy2Isabella replied: 2 BABIES ...
I am so THRILLED I am jumping out of my skin, I just want to scream. LOL!!
luvmykids replied: Your're a better woman than me....I would have strangled my doc if I heard to hb's and didn't get an ultrasound Luckily that is exactly how I got my first one (minus the strangling LOL)
Anyway, congrats on two beans
luvbug00 replied: yipee! congrats!
gr33n3y3z replied: Congrats on 2 little ones Your sure the baby didnt blow gas to sound like another heart beat? j/k I'm happy for all of you
Mommy2Isabella replied: That would be a RATHER SKILLED BABY ... LOL !!
mummy2girls replied: why wouldnt he just let you keep the u/s? if my doc found 2 heart beats i would not be letting him skip the u/s. i would no way buddy im going and i want to be sure that was 2 heartbeats. I guess im justr overly cautious with my pregnancies i guess.. But congrats! 2 babies must be exciting.
lovemy2 replied: That's great - must be a really good OB you have - mine could never tell me the heart rate from the doppler - just from u/s!! Congrats!
PrairieMom replied: how exciting!
Mommy2Isabella replied: I wasn't complaining about not having the U/S because my insurance only covers so many during the pregnancy ... lol
However from this point on I will need as much help from those twins + mommies on what to ask at appointments!!
MotherForever2043 replied: Yay!! two peas in a pod
CONGRATS!!!
moped replied: As long as everyone is healthy you should be just fine!
Mommy2Isabella replied: They didn't seem to think anything was wrong, so neither did I ...
I guess Im not as aggresive as some!
moped replied: Me either!
boyohboyohboy replied: congrats Jess, you surely have been blessed!
luvmykids replied: I don't remember having to ask much, as soon as we found out it was twins my OB referred me to a perinate....I saw them regularly and they told me when the OB wanted to see me again. They were very good and told me just about everything before I had to ask.
momofone replied:
2BMom replied: CONGRATS!!!
mummy2girls replied: i guess because of my losses im overly cautiuos. twins i would be scared. And i wouldnt care how much my insurance covers i would be in there so fast to have it done. call me wierd i guess...LOL
Sam & Abby's Mom replied: Congrats ! glad to read that everyone (Mommy and Babies) are doing well
Mommy2Isabella replied: Jennasmommy -
I understand where you are coming from. I just feel my dr. knows what he is doing. He has been doing it FOR YEARS like 30 something, if he felt the need for an U/S he would have done one, in my opinon.
I know if I suspect anything UNUSUAL or something feels WRONG, I will be the first one to call and DEMAND an U/S to make sure everything is ok!
Kaitlin'smom replied: hay how about getting in the car and driving here I can get you tons of free U/S.......LOL do you know if you have any Womens Support Centers there maybe they can do one for you so you can see the little one(s)
Mommy2Isabella replied: Im am sure we have one ... but WHO knows where, and I think it is dependent upon your income if you can go ... lol
I would LOVE to see them, but with all the U/S studies lately, I would rather hold off. I mean, I feel them moving and such ... so I DOUBT there is anything to worry about
grapfruit replied: What is that? (I apologize for my ignorance!)
grapfruit replied: OMG I'm an idiot. I forgot to say CONGRADULATIONS!!!!!!!!! And I'm w/everyone else, can't wait to see the U/S!
Did you say (and I missed) when it is??
MoonMama replied: WOOOHOOO!!! I just new it! CONGRATS!!!
mummy2girls replied: yes Jessie but i felt Jordan kick and everything and he was not fine. Im not saying your babies are sick or anything is wrong because what jordan had was rare but i just wanted to say you cant tell by if they move that they are ok. If i were you hun I would demand an u/s because you feel you want to see them and being twin pregnancies are high risk it would ease your mind. no doctor would turn away a mom that is that worried. at least not here where I am at least. I would still do it
mummy2girls replied: true.. but my ob has been doign it for over 30 years and he thought Jordan was ok and such so he just scehduled what i was to get.. 2 u/s's. But just as i said twins are high risk hun! im sorry if i sound like a broken record but i just worry ... when is your next u/s?
mummy2girls replied: doctor for high needs pregancies. i saw one when they thought jenna had spina bifada and i had an u/s and amnio
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Congrats, that's great news!
Mommy2Isabella replied: My dr. is a high risk dr.
JennasMommy - I understand COMPLETELY where you are coming from, I really do! I have my u/s on august 30th. I have already had a few u/s's. I know what you mean about everything "seeming" to be ok and it not be. I have my worries, but what pregnant mom doesnt have them? We are still in the high risk for Dissappearing Twin Syndrome, which the rate drops for at 20 weeks. In my opinon I don't feel that an U/S is necessary. I am ALL for seeing the twins ... but its not a need for me right now. I feel great, and Im not trying to focus on what COULD go wrong at this point. For my health and there health, I am doing what I know how to do best and that is something meant for another thread. I have been talked to about all the needs and recomendations on how to keep things GREAT. As well as the possible risks and things that could go wrong, at the first sign I can assure you I will be on the phone, or on the way to the ER. The biggest thing they are worried about right now is that Baby B's heartbeat wasn't as strong but there are many reasons for that such as positioning. I really do appreciate your concern and advice though. I don't want you to think that I don't because I really do. I take everything that you say into consideration. But for me, Im not worried about them, I know in my heart that they are doing GREAT. But like I said that is for another thread!!
Danalana replied: Congrats!
msoulz replied: Woweee, Congrats!!!!! How very exciting, scary, thrilling, a bit of everything I suppose!
Mommy2Isabella replied: Very Exciting yet scary ... we are so excited but at the same time we are thinking omgosh how can we afford this ... LOL
holley79 replied: OMG That is awesome sweetie!!! Is Sal excited?!?!?! Tell him we have missed him around here.
luvmykids replied: Basically, yes. Perinatologist is the full term. My OB referred me to them the second he saw the twins, and they really were my prenatal care. I met with my OB once in awhile to review their notes, and my OB delivered them, but really the perinates were the folks who did everything through my pg. Mostly because they specialize in high risk pg's. My OB has been around forever, he's now delivering grandchildren but they're the ones who I saw once a month for an u/s, they're the ones who determined when I needed to be on bed rest, etc.
BTW Jess, your insurance still won't cover extra u/s's if your OB deems them necessary due to the fact you're carrying twins? I'd check into that, that was just one of the perks of having twins
CantWait replied: I think you're doing the right thing. It's great that you got such a positive attitude and remain so optimistic.
KingMom replied: Jess, that's great news. I think you're doing all the right things and following your OB's advice.
How exciting You and Sal will get through this, stay positive. You are both strong people and can make through this together!
Mommy2Isabella replied: My insurance will cover it if the Dr. deems it necessary but yesterday he saw no reason to do an U/S. I am Ok with that.
Monica, I may need a lot of advice from you in the coming months. HOW DO YOU DO IT! LOL ...
I see a high risk dr. because of previous medical history, so I KNOW my dr. has MY and the BABIES best intrest in mind, I am content with his decision, would I have liked to see them, OH YA, who wouldn't, but Im not going to ask for a procedure that isn't necessary! KWIM??
Thanks for all the congrats everyone! Yesterday was a very emotional day
momofone replied: Just something to look into WIC program may help out financially.
Mommy2Isabella replied: The WIC program would be AWESOME! However, Sal makes WAY TO MUCH MONEY!
Like more than double the amount, it is based on income and he gets a pay check and money from the VA every month.
Thanks for the advice though, it is something we did look into.
my2monkeyboys replied: Congratulations!!! Bella's going to be a big sister... x 2!!!
holley79 replied: Here in Fl if you are high risk and the Dr states it's necessary for you to get WIC you can and it doesn't matter what your income is.
Mommy2Isabella replied: Unfortunately it isn't necessary, we make plenty, we aren't in bad shape, and we have GREAT insurance!
Bamamom replied: Congrats girl. I am so happy for you! You just do what feels right in your gut - it's usually correct. You and Sal are going to do great - glad to hear from you again!!!!
Crystalina replied: I agree. Relax and enjoy your pregnancy. It's great that your getting great advice from someone who has BTDT and only wants the best for you and the babies but I agree that you "know". If you feel confidant in your DR. and with how things are going then I think that is the best. I think everyone one on the board is just happy, anxious and only wants the best.
Congratulations on Baby A and Baby B!
I'm not sure whether I would be happy or crying.
Mommy2Isabella replied: OH Goodness the past 2 days have been a ROLLERCOASTER of emotions, we are happy, and nervous, and estatic and scared ... lol ... we are a little of everything!
But all in all, we are VERY HAPPY and WAY excited, just everything that comes with having twins, on top of already having one Princess ... just a little overwhelming
zdk753 replied: Congratulations!!!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Oh that's AWESOME!
That's awesome that they head the two heartbeats. I'd have been pushing for the us they'd scheduled though...just cuz I'd want to see my babies!!!!I don't know how uch they are there, but here they're like 150$. I had one over my limit, and I had to pay for it.
Mommy2Isabella replied: My dr. is high risk so he charges out the BUTT for everything, our U/S are around 300 ... I don't have that laying around, ESPECIALLY NOT NOW!! LOL
Thanks!
Cece00 replied: Your Dr is able to code the ultrasound so that the insurance will pay for it. I had quite a few ultrasounds that my OB would code so my insurance would pick it up so I wouldnt have to pay for them (they only covered 2) throughout my 4 pregnancies. I only had to pay for one ultrasound out of pocket, and the 4D one I had too...
Honestly, I've never heard of a Dr who didnt want to do an ultrasound on twins because of the risk involved (for example, identical twins who share a sack can entangle in the others cord, obviously something one would want to know about...that type of twin is rare, but still...), especially if there was a question of whether or not you were having twins. My OB always did an ultrasound @ 8 weeks-10 weeks to date the pregnancy and make sure it was just one so there were no surprises & so they could take precautions if need be, because usually people with twins get ultrasounded much more than people having singletons.
When do you get an ultrasound to make sure?
luvmykids replied: I got one at least once a month! Everyone else who was pg at the same time was jealous
Cece00 replied: I know, I was always jealous of ppl I knew who got to have more than 2 ultrasounds. I got about 3 with every pregnancy and I wasnt even considered risky in the least, except the last time when I didnt find out I was pregnant til I was about 7 weeks b/c I had been on birth control & my progesterone got REALLY low. So I had an ultrasound to check the baby & went on progesterone but once my lvls stablized I wasnt considered @ risk anymore. And then I got like 2 more plus my 4D.
Mommy2Isabella replied: I get a lot of u/s.
I have one on August 30th and then probably almost every appointment after that.
I PERSONALLY am not worried about not having the U/S done last friday! I would have been SPLENDID to see the twins, but I will see them very soon
Mommy2BAK replied: WOW I'm like totally suprised!!!!
Mommy2BAK replied: Sorry I forgot to say
CONGRATS!!!!
coasterqueen replied: I got one almost every month with Megan because we were high risk with her. I would have been nervous if I didn't. Even though I'm not a fan of a lot of ultrasounds, it was necessary.
Jessica, congrats. That is good you can trust your OB so well. I have never met a high risk doc not want to do an ultrasound with a high risk pg. Sounds like he is very confident, which is great. Most docs are so scared of being sued these days that, especially with a twin pregnancy they would have done an US right away no matter what. If something was to happen to your babies, or he gave you inaccurate information, etc, he could be sued very easily. There aren't too many docs these days that would take that risk alone.
GL with the rest of your pg. I can't wait to see and hear about the babies after your US.
grapfruit replied: Another question (out of ignorance): Is waiting a few weeks for an US really that big of a deal? I mean if they noticed them sharing a sack or something, is there anything they can really do except monitor them?? I'm just curious. I mean just the excitement of seeing them would be enough to push for one for me. I'm just wondering if it's MEDICALLY relevent at this point.
gr33n3y3z replied: to answer your question
No
But a month maybe
Mommy2Isabella replied:
I don't see that it is! Thats why Im not worried about it. I know there are MANY things that could happen between now and then, and for me carrying two babies is VERY EXCITING, but I am going to get the U/S on the 30th why push them to do one now. The babies aren't sharing a sac so ... that rules out any twin to twin transfusion or complications there!
I appreciate everyone's concerns and advice!!
Kaitlin'smom replied: How do they know that?
luvmykids replied: I'm just curious because I thought you were already scheduled for one at this last appt, that's why I'm wondering why they didn't go ahead and do it. I'm sure he's got his reasons, I'm just wondering what they are, that instead of going ahead with it he rescheduled it. Not because it's a big deal, just because I was suprised by it.
3xsthefun replied: That is great news! Congrats!
mummy2girls replied: how do they know that fi you never had an ultrasound? plus the last u/s showed only one sac so it not like another sac can grow. they could be sharing a sac and because one baby has a low heartrate it could mean something more than position.
Mommy2Isabella replied: I guess they may not know that ... he surely didn't seem worried!
I know the lower heartbeat is cause for a few concerns but he didn't want to go ahead with the ultrasound I am sure for his own medical opinon!
I know I have read a few things, one saying that an U/S increases the risk of Twin Disappearance Syndrome if performed before 20 weeks, so maybe that is why!
I guess at my appointment I will ask.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Please forgive my ignorance now (and sorry if we're all driving you crazy with all the questions!!) but how can the ultrasound increase the risk? I always though ultrasounds had no effect on the baby at all.
HuskerMom replied: Congrats!!
Our Lil' Family replied: I'd like to read that if you have the link.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: That's simpy not true, hun. I think you misread something.
Now, I have read that the diagnosis can be determined more frequently by the use of u/s before 20 weeks, but it doesn't cause it.
U/s are safe for babies otherwise they wouldn't do it.
Mommy2Isabella replied: I will have to ask my mom for the link that says about the twin disappearance thing ... I will post it for you tomorrow!
Cece00 replied: Not to freak you out, but you can have TTT without them being in the same sack. Just some FYI. Apparently its still pretty rare though, so thats good.
Cece00 replied: I would like the link, too, because I was interested and unable to find this link through research.
I did find where they said that because of ultrasounds, the numbers of VT syndrome have "raised" because they are now able to detect when there are twins (because the large majority of people pregnant with twins have quite a few ultrasounds...) and that one has disappeared because of ultrasounds.
So it may LOOK like ultrasounds are "causing" it when really they are just detecting it more frequently because ultrasounds used to not exist or be used as much as they are now.
Mommy2Isabella replied: cece ... The thing my mother read to me is simialar but I will ask her for the link
** OK, REALLY I appreciate everyone's CONCERN about my pregnancy. However I want you ALL to know, I am VERY confident in my Dr. his choice not to do the U/S was his medical opinon I am CONFIDENT with that. He is a GREAT Dr. he knows what he is doing. He has been in practice for a VERY long time. Honestly, I would PREFER not to focus on all the NEGATIVE things that COULD go wrong in my pregnancy. I try to have a very POSITIVE outlook on things, especially my pregnancy. For those of you that were around last time, you know my pregnancy with Isabella was very difficult, I am trying to have a much more pleasant experience this time around. I appreciate everyone's input, just feel as if everyone wants me to know all the things that could go wrong in a twin pregnancy. I am not uneducated about things, I just choose not to talk about them. **
gr33n3y3z replied: thats all anyone needs to know
Danalana replied: ^^I agree...something can go wrong with any pregnancy. It's not like your doctor is just a friend who told you an u/s wasn't warranted at that time...he obviously knows what he's doing. If we focus on what could go wrong all the time, it makes for a pretty miserable pregnancy.
Mommy2Isabella replied: Thanks for understanding.
Bamamom replied: You go girl - I'm proud of you
mummy2girls replied: ok i will stop bugging you.. but before i stop for good please if you feel you need an u/s or anything dont just let the doc say nah your fine demand them. because motherly instinct is usually more accurate than what the doc thinks..
Mommy2Isabella replied: Oh Def. if I need one I will demand one, I am very aggressive when it comes to that.
I appreciate all of your insight, I just don't like hearing all the negative you know!! But I appreciate all that you have to say!
Calimama replied:
Same here.. Can't stand negativity.. and not knowing how to spell it.
indywndy_04 replied: how exciting! Can you do me a favor, because I have a bad memory...will you post a ticker of how far a long you are so I can keep up with all you preggo women??
Boo&BugsMom replied: WOW, I just saw this!!!! CONGRATS! I know how badly you wanted twins. When we were pregnant with Tanner we kind of wanted twins, because we only wanted two kids and that would have made it go faster. With Aiden though, I would have freaked if it were twins. Excited, but freaked. I'm so happy for you!
Mommy2Isabella replied: LOL ... Thanks!!
Ya I will post a ticker, I took it down because I am going to redo my signature!
