Make it go away!!!!
Maddie&EthansMom wrote: Is there ANYTHING you can do for the stomach virus?? Ethan woke up this morning puking (again). It's so strange b/c he sleeps really well at night and during the day...no waking up puking (thank God for that). But he is so terribly weak and sick this morning.
Should I call his ped? It will take forever for them to call back. Is there anything I can give him??? Or does it just have to run it's course? I'm so tired of smelling, looking at and cleaning up puke!!!
Boys r us replied: Yikes..poor baby!! Just keep him on some pedialyte!!
I hope he feels better really soon!!!
luvmykids replied: I'm sorry he's still so sick! And my sympathies to you, mom!
We had to let it just run its course, the longest anyone had it was 3 days so I hope you're nearing the end!
Nina J replied: Maybe some soda? My mother always used to give me soda, Sprite usually, at room temperature. I still do it today when I have a stomach virus, and it does help. When I was a kid, I drank it slowly through a straw.
Other than that, I'm not sure. I would call the Ped, just to be on the safe side.
I hope he's feeling better soon
JP&KJMOM replied: Bless his heart and yours too. I think that running its course is your only option though. for having to go through it again.
C&K*s Mommie replied: I would also imagine that it has to run its course through his body. Poor Ethan. I would say Sprite and crackers too, that helps me settle my stomach with anything that is wanting to come up.
Bless his heart. ((comfort)) vibes for you taking care of your baby, and being concerned for him.
coasterqueen replied: UGH! I'd probably just call the PED just to see what they say as far as how long it's running it's course in your area, but otherwise I'm sure that's what it has to do.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: YIKES! Poor Ethan! There is a medication called Phenergan that will stop vomiting. I hope he feels better soon!
ETS~ It is a prescription so you would have to call the PED.
jcc64 replied: Corey once had a stomach virus for close to a week. I know that's pretty uncommon, and after day 3, I did take her in. But, as I suspected, there was nothing they could do, other than advice me to watch for dehydration. I've found kids are pretty willing to deal with ice pops- they do soothe an upset stomach. That, and ginger ale- ginger is GREAT for settling the stomach. Mint tea, also. Sorry, Aimee- that sucks!
Btw- did you ever see my long winded post about having another kid- I think it got buried before you got a chance to see it.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Poor Baby! My ped prescribed a rectal suppository that is supposed to help stop vomitting. It starts with a P. You can ask your ped about it. I bought it, but didn't get a chance to use it since Wil's vomitting episodes stopped after I picked it up. But the pharmacist says it lasts a long time (in the refrigerator), so maybe we will use it another time.
Other than that, lots of Gatorade and dry toast or cheerios.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Yes, I did get to read it. Thanks for your insight!
I think we are in the clear now..as far as vomiting goes. But now it's POOP!!! He has kept down crackers and ginger ale this morning.
We had a prescription for phenergan, but I"m afraid to give it to him. I hear it has some not so good side effects in children.
booey2 replied: Glad he is not puking anymore, have you tried the children's Pepto Bismol for his poops? I have used it on the boys and it helped.
Halo42101 replied: Prayers & for you & Ethan.
Kittilicious replied: Not to scare you, but a guy that I work with, his son had the stomach flu for 4 or 5 days I think it was... he's now in the hospital with an intestinial infection. He was better from the flu, but his stomach muscles hurt so much. Doc said it can happen with these flus... more or less the virus finds a new place to go.
My2Beauties replied: That stuff knocks me for a loop girlie. When I got dehydrated with that stomach flu last year and had to sit in the hospital for 4 hours getting IV fluids, they put some of that in my IV and I was higher than a kite then I slept the rest of the night and most of the next day! I would hate to see what it would do to a small child - but it does help with throwing up and nausea!
A&A'smommy replied: that is exactly what i was going to say... but yeah your right there really isn't anything you can do to make it go other than give him the phenergan and I would be REALLY hesitant to do so.. goodness i hope it goes away soon!!
ashtonsmama replied: Sorry you're all going through that again!
punkeemunkee'smom replied:
We had to give it to Tay when she got the rotovirus lastyear but I cut the supositories length wise in half and it made her sleep but thankfully stopped the vomiting long enough for her to get some strength back. We still have 5 of the 6 he prescribed in the fridge I hope we never have to use it again but chances are.... they love to share the nastiest germs!
holley79 replied: Oh that poor baby. I hope that he gets to feeling better. I would defiantly call the ped though. I have no clue what to give them.
mummy2girls replied: awwww man! Poor guy! gatorade is a good one... yogurt with that active bactrial ingerdient in it helps subside the poops. my mom bought jenna a powder at a health food store that you add to drinks that helps with the poops. Works with jenna! if you want i can go look at the name and giev it to you...
cheese is a good one!
ediep replied: poor guy!!!! I hope he is feeling better soon.
Jason came down with the same virus 7 days ago and he still has diarreah. His ped said that it can last 7-10 days. I have kept him home from school all week because of it.
Brias3 replied: Aww, I'm sorry Hope Ethan feels better soon!
