Male or Female doc?
msoulz wrote: I was reading another thread and was wondering about others' preferences and experiences with doctors, especially OB/GYN's. Does it matter to you??
My3LilMonkeys replied: Not at all. The OB/GYN practice I go to has 2 main doctors who I've seen about equally - one male, one female - and they are both absolutely wonderful.
Celestrina replied: I slightly prefer female doctors, but I don't let that be a deciding factor. I was referred to my current OB/GYN (who is female), but I also like the male doctors in her practice. When I was preg I had to see all of them at some point so they would know me if they were on call when I gave birth.
coasterqueen replied: I prefer a female OB/GYN, but I've had both. Most other docs I have are male.
PrairieMom replied: I don't really care either way. I am really lucky working in a hospital that I can get the inside scoop on all types of Drs. I want one that knows what they are doing and knows when they are over their heads. regardless of gender.
CantWait replied: I've had so many docs look at my vag I could care less anymore.
My2Beauties replied: For regular doc I could care less, for OB/GYN I'd prefer a female, I go to a practice called Total Woman now that is purely an all female staff, not one man works in there. They have a spa there complete with a masseuse, they hold breast feeding clinics, they have an LC there almost all the time, it's so niiiiice in there!!! When I delivered Hanna, I had a male OB and I liked him as well but I feel more comfy with a woman.
MommyToAshley replied: My OBGYN is a male doctor, and I think he is awesome. When I was going through all kinds of issues a few years ago, I felt like my family doc (a male) was not being thorough and taking my issues seriously. So, I asked my OB for a suggestion for another family doc. He referred me to the family doc I have now (which is a female) and I love her. I feel like she really listened when I needed it and took things seriously and did the necessary tests. I have to drive a little further to go to her, but it's worth it to have someone I can trust.
bluebear replied: Female. I used to go to a male pediatrician when I was younger and he was the biggest creep ever.
TheOaf66 replied: as long as they know what they are doing I don't care either way...especially for my OBGYN
PrairieMom replied:
ChristineA replied: before I had kids id say female but now that Ive had kids and had everybody and there brother look at/stick fingers in my hoo hoo I could car less.
holley79 replied: I prefer my female ob/ gyn to the male i use to have.
A&A'smommy replied: I don't really have a preference but I have heard from SO many woman that women doctors aren't quite a gentle as a male doctor so needless to say I have a male doctor.
Crystalina replied: My obgyn is a male and he is HOT!!!! He delivered all 3 of my munchkins but believe me, when you are pushing I don't care if he's a troll, as long as he's doing what he's paid to do. DH teases me every time I have to go see him because he knows that all the women are drooling over him. LOL
I always tell dh, "Ugh! I HATE that I have to go get a check-up. " DH says, "Yeah, I'm sure your just wanting to cancel...not! LOL"
ZandersMama replied: The most gentle and least uncomfortable pelvic i have ever has was from a male doc. He was great, I was miscarrying and he started getting teared up in the room with me. I found every woman i have been to has been rough and cold. my family doc is ok, she is female, but kinda rough down there.
mckayleesmom replied: I have had both sexes and prefer male. The woman are rougher then the men I have found.
redchief replied: I'm impressed by the number of "no preference" votes. Our family practice has both male and female docs, and it doesn't matter to me which doctor I see.
msoulz replied: I also have no preference - I just want competence. My OB/GYN is a male and my family doc is a female and they are both phenomenal docs.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I can't handle going to a male OB/GYN. I've been to male docs for other things and that's ok but having a male OB freaks me out. I did have a male dr in the ER when I was miscarrying and he was very nice but it still made me very uncomfortable. My OB/GYN is a woman and she's the best doctor I've ever been to hands down.
Cece00 replied: I want the most qualified person, I could not care less about their gender. My OB/GYN happens to be a male. He's delivered all 4 of my kids and he actually delivered me 27 yrs ago as well. He's wonderful, never ever been rough or creepy or anything but totally professional and almost like family.
Calimama replied: I don't care either way.
