Man in office has stomuch virus - HAVE QUESTION
coasterqueen wrote: This might be really stupid but what does one do to ensure they do not get the stomach virus? One of our lobbyists was home all day yesterday throwing up with the stomach virus. He's here today and still not feeling well. HOW do I make sure I don't get it? I'm washing my hands constantly and keeping them away from my mouth. Seriously, what else do I do? Can I get it from breathing around him? I'm going to be so p'oed if I get it. I haven't had it in years.
C&K*s Mommie replied: I do not think it is an airborne illness. I believe that you are doing the correct things, washing your hands often, not touching your eyes or mouth.
jcc64 replied: I believe you have to somehow come in direct contact with "the offending substance". (like, on a bathroom doorknob, or if he barfs in your lap?). I don't believe it's airborne like a respitory virus. Hope you don't get it- stomach stuff is the worst.
fashionmumofboys replied: This man should not be at work today, if he still does not feel well. He should be home and not spreading his germs around.
You are doing all the right things, by washing your hands, etc., but germs linger in the air all the time and can catch these bugs just by breathing.
I hope those nasty stomach virus germs stay away from you.
coasterqueen replied: Thanks everyone. I felt silly asking but I do NOT want to get this. I can't believe he's in here. He's going to be at the capitol all day lobbying coming in to contact with dozens of people.
I had to help him with the mail machine and he said he was trying to stay away from me so I don't get it but UGH!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: If he feels he should try to stay away from you so you don't get it, didn't he "think" that maybe you're not the only one who doesn't wantr to get it, and stay HOME?
Idiot.
I hate people like that.
Kaitlin'smom replied: got any lysol? spray it when ever he touchs anything maybe that will give him the hit to stay home with his germs. no really just keep washing and dont touch for face at all if you can help it.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I don't blame you for not wanting to get sick again!! I'd just keep doing what you're doing... and maybe start taking some vitamin C and Echinacea.
If you start getting sick, go and get some Zicam for cold and flu. Seriously, I got some because I was so sick and tired of being sick and it helped right away. Now I've been taking it every time I feel another cold coming on and it's been keeping me from getting sick. I looked it up on kellymom too and it's ok to take while nursing.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I always used those disinfecting Clorox wipes in my office. Wipe down anything he comes in contact with if you can. If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't even care if he saw me. He mentioned he didn't want to get you sick, so then he shouldn't take offense to your wiping! People like that make me so angry. I hope you don't get sick.
I'm not sure this would help with a bug like his, but I would take a lot of Vitamin C, zinc and ecinacea just to make sure I didn't get it.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: FYI - gram for gram, strawberries have more vitamin c than oranges.
redchief replied: Most viruses aren't airborne, so you're already doing the best thing you can; frequent hand washing. Disinfecting wipes may help, but honestly, unless you follow directly behind him, in the office setting, you wouldn't be able to be certain you got all of his nasty little bugs.
Another thing you could do (I do this even though it sounds rude) is to strongly suggest that since he insists on reporting to work sick, that he wash his hands with soap and water frequently too.
Otherwise, think how much stronger your immune system will be after it kills yet another bug.
CosmetologyMommy replied: Maybe use some hand sanitizer? I have it also right now and it is vicious!
