couple of these medications in my cabinet.

URGENT-URGENT- DRUG RECALL.

All drugs containing PHENYLPROPANOLAMINE
All drugs containing PHENYLPROPANOLAMINE are being recalled. You may
want to try calling the 800 number listed on most drug boxes and inquire
about a REFUND. Please read this CAREFULLY. Also, please pass this on
to everyone you know.

STOP TAKING anything containing this ingredient. It has been linked to
increased hemorrhagic stroke (bleeding in the brain) among women ages
18-49 in the three days after starting use of medication. Problems were
not found in men, however, the FDA recommended that everyone
(even children) seek an alternative medicine.

I just found out and called the 800# on the container for
Triaminic and they informed me that they are voluntarily recalling the
following medicines because of a certain ingredient that is causing strokes
and seizures in children:
Orange 3D Cold &Allergy Cherry (Pink)
3D Cold &Cough Berry
3D Cough Relief Yellow 3D Expectorant

They are asking you to call them at 800-548-3708 with the lot
number on the box so they can send you postage for you to send it
back to them, and they will also issue you a refund.

If you know of anyone else with small children, PLEASE PASS
THIS ON. THIS IS SERIOUS STUFF!
DO PASS THIS ALONG TO ALL ON YOUR MAILING LIST so people are
informed.
They can then pass it along to their families.
To confirm these findings please take time to check the
following:

texasp3 replied: The Phenylpropanolamine recall is old... from 2000. By the way, that webpage you linked to at the FDA says (in part):

"FDA is aware of emails circulating widely that list many products allegedly containing PPA. These emails, however, generally contain dated and inaccurate information and should be ignored."

Today's products should not have any Phenylpropanolamine in them, though it is always good to check before buying or using.

The Triaminic recall for dyes though... that's a different issue!! Good to know!

akbutterfly83 replied: Sorry for the old news... just thought I'd share..... Thanks for telling me it's old... and they shouldn't have that in them anymore......

texasp3 replied: Ehh... I get old stuff all the time. That's the downside of email... it never dies... it just keeps going 'round and 'round and 'round. But hey... if you hadn't gotten it, you wouldn't have called Triamic's 800# and wouldn't know about the dye issue! smile.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: thank you for the info
I didnt know this

akbutterfly83 replied: LOL.. I didn't call the 800#.... that was part of the email.....

But it was all nice info... I didn't know any of it....

~Roo'sMama~ replied: Whew I'm glad it's old... I LOVE Dimetapp and I would have been very sad if I couldn't take it anymore! tongue.gif I'm already going through withdrawl since I haven't taken it for my colds while I've been pg. wink.gif tongue.gif

texasp3 replied: "LOL.. I didn't call the 800#.... that was part of the email....."

OooooooooOoooooooooooooh! smile.gif Guess I'll stop digging through my cabinets for Triaminic products now. rolling_smile.gif

coasterqueen replied:
rolling_smile.gif Sara, I've been going through pepto bismol withdrawals ever since I got pg with Kylie because it's not safe to take while pg and not safe to take while BF. The first thing I'm gonna do after this one weans is go straight to the pepto bottle and jug-a-lug. biggrin.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied:
eeewwww Karen, you like that stuff? yuck, I can bairly take the pill version

My2Beauties replied: Oh man Pepto Bismol makes me sick puke.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied: I thought that was old, but I had to make sure. I grabbed all of Jade's medication and the Alka Seltzer Plus Cold to make sure. None of those medicines had the above active ingredient in it. The Triametic info is useful. Thanks!

A&A'smommy replied: LOL ya'll are funny! rolling_smile.gif 1

MommyToAshley replied: Ashley has only taken cold medicine one time, but it was triaminic. So, I grabbed her bottle and double checked as well. Thanks for the info. Even though that is old news, it is scary to think that they don't catch this stuff during the long drug trials.

~Roo'sMama~ replied:
LOL I've never tried Pepto Bismal but the smell and look of it makes me sick! rolling_smile.gif My friend loves it though and is always drinking it out of the bottle. tongue.gif

kim62377 replied: Wow - thanks for the info! I have heard nothing about this - that's scary! ohmy.gif I'll be sure to pass this on!
