Messed up my interview - so disappointed in myself

CantWait wrote: Had my interview a couple hours ago, and I totally messed it up. I'm usually great and very talkative, but when they asked me to tell them about myself, I pretty much frooze. Hello Marie, you just went through this a year ago in school and did it perfect, no not today, I told them everything that was already on my resume, things they could see already. banghead.gif banghead.gif banghead.gif I don't even care if I get the job or not, just thought the opportunity had presented itself, so I applied, I really want to stay home with the kids, but I want money also (and I suck at childcare). This was pretty much part time only so it would have been pretty good. growl.gif If I had done my very best, and not got the job, it really wouldn't have bothered me, but I didn't do my best and it kills me. bawling.gif

BAC'sMom replied: hug.gif better luck next time. Hey never know they still might call!

Kaitlin'smom replied: hug.gif sorry you did not do as well as you hoped. Personally I hate that question. I never know what they are wanting true info about me or job skills.

amynicole21 replied: We're always much harder on ourselves than others. Who knows - they may surprise you and offer you the job! I think they are probably just trying to get a feel for your personality with those kinds of questions really. I mean, what do they want to know, that you like counted cross-stitching or play water polo on weekends? Really. rolleyes.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: maybe deep down you knew you didnt want this job yet.
Dont be hard on yourself there is always another time and another day

Boys r us replied: hug.gif DOn't beat yourself up Marie!!!

Remember, we are our own worst critics also, so they may not have seen your interview int he same light that you are reviewing it in!!!!

Maddie&EthansMom replied: ITA with Amy. I bet you did just fine. hug.gif Don't beat yourself up over it. I also hate that question. They really just want you to talk and get a feel for your personality..as was already stated. They know you are nervous. wink.gif

Keeping my fingers crossed for you. thumb.gif

A&A'smommy replied: hug.gif hug.gif I'm sorry sweetie!!! I"m sure you did better than you though!!!!

C&K*s Mommie replied: dito.gif to everyone that you probably did much better than you thought, and that they still may call you back to offer you the position. hug.gif hug.gif Something will come along, if this is not it. You will see. smile.gif

Here is something that I found on Yahoo! that helped me to understand that dreaded question, and ways to respond. How to answer the tough interview questions

kimberley replied: hug.gif sorry it didn't go well. i will keep my fingers crossed anyways. hug.gif

J-rod replied: most of the time its not "what" you say...rather than "how" you say it. they dont care exactly what you tell them...they just seeing how you react and how you present yourself..... keep ya chin up...may still get it. i said the word "sex" in an interview once on accident and still got the job blush.gif

redchief replied: Sorry Marie... maybe everyone else did worse! Anyway, maybe it will come through despite how you feel about your interview.

ZandersMama replied: Sorry hug.gif

Kirstenmumof3 replied: hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif I'm sorry it didn't go as well as you had hoped! Don't give up hope, they might still call! hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif

CantWait replied:

holley79 replied: Are you sure it's a dead issue as for NOT getting the job. I'm sure you did better then you thought. hug.gif

CantWait replied:
Holly I couldn't come up with a single intelligent answer to any of their questions, not that there were many to begin with. I was only in there for 20 also. My performance was the worst ever.

na81 replied: hug.gif I'm sure you did better than you think. I will keep my fingers crossed for ya!! wink.gif

mammag replied: I think most of us have probably had an interview like that. Don't be too hard on yourself. They've probably seen much worse. hug.gif
