Mommy Brag - Hockey try outs

She is very excited All weekend during try-outs (there were 23 kids tryinout out) she was very calm and then when we finally found out she was stunned! Only two girls made the team and I think 10 boys, mostly boys who this is their 2nd yr at this level, but this is her first year and she made the team!!!

Sorry! I don't think I updated about that. That was a girls state hockey team and it was 9-14 yr olds (she's 9) so she didn't make that, but she had fun playing against girls that are taller than her dad!!! But she held her own and they invited her to play on their house team, which she may or not be able to do... given she now made the 'boys' team.

This team she made is 'technically' a boys team, but it is age level... 9 & 10 yr olds. Most of the time the 2nd yr kids make it(and this is her first year), but she beat out a few of them. She didn't anticipate making this one either but she was more hopeful. And she really did a great job in the tryouts which were over 3 hours of hockey this weekend. She never stops! And some of the kids, whine and slow down after about 1/2 hour of hard skating, but not our Mary Beth ... she just keeps on going. She also is a very FAST and natural skater so she can out skate about 20 of the kids that were at tryouts. I think those two things are what the coaches saw that they like in her. I don't think she will ever be a top scorer but she loves defense and she protects the goalie so that is a good thing. Not many points get scored by the other team when she is on the ice.

Oh Gosh! I sound like a Hockey Mom!!
