Morphine Drip
Kirstenmumof3 wrote: They are starting Spencer on a morphine drip today. He has really bad mouth sores in his throat (this is all related to the chemo) and he is complaining of stomach pain so they think he may have sores in his stomach as well.
He is undergoing a blood transfussion right now and has spiked a fever. So they are really keeping an eye on him. They are glad that he has a fever this means that his body is trying to fight off something.
I will keep you all updated!
jcc64 replied: Poor little guy. I'm glad he's showing signs of fighting through the fever, but it's so hard to see kids so uncomfortable. The morphine sounds like a blessing right now. P & PT's to both of you!
moped replied: Yes, I heard a fever isn't always a bad thing.......................I wish I could hug him right now!
Sarah&Mackenzie replied: Just want to offer you some
C&K*s Mommie replied: I too wish I could give him the biggest hug, like I am to my little one now--

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Okay, this may sound completely off base, but I wanted to give you a heads up. Logan had a morphine drip post op and it shut down his bowels, that is just one of the side effects, so watch that they give Spencer something to get him going again if you KWIM. It does sound like the morphine may be the best thing for him. Dulls the pain and lets him sleep. I hope he is feeling better soon, and I hope you slept well last night, Kirsten. Don't forget to hug yourself too.

Kirstenmumof3 replied: Thanks for the heads up I didn't know that. But they have a lot of fluids going through him right now and they are thinking of adding a stool softner as well. So maybe it won't happen to Spencer. There are tubes everywhere!
