If she's not better in a day or two, I would bring her to the Dr., because it's not normal to be in that much pain. Maybe she has an underlying ear infection or something. I'm not sure what else you can do. Just offer lots of hugs and kisses, and reassurances. Maybe DH can take over in the evening so you can have a break? I know how hard it can be when they don't feel good and you're at your wit's end.

maliksmommy replied: I am so sorry the Motrin didn't work, we had different results at our house. I gave Malik the Motrin at about 8:00 right before he went to bed and then didn't wake up until 6:00 this morning. I don't know if it was a fluke or what but we'll see when we try tonight. I hope things get better for you guys

ediep replied: I gave Jason motrin last night too, he went to bed at 8:30 and he woke up at 12:30. He was crying but I don't think it was his teeth since the motrin should have been working still. I eventually gave him a bottle and he setteled down until about 4:30. At 4:30, he started crying but my dh said to wait a few minutes to see if he goes back to sleep on his own....we only had to wait like 5 minutes and he went back to sleep until about 7am. (LOL, my Dh usually is the one asking me what to do, but at 4:30 in the morning, he was the voice of reason)
I asked his ped about the night waking, he said it could be just a growth spurt. He reccommended trying the motrin to see if it was his teeth waking him. If he still woke up, the doc said to try a bottle or just let him cry a while. emlaugh.gif
I was a little torn about this because Jason is not really a cry-er....he only cries if something is bothering him or he is hungry. I am not a supporter of the CIO method, but I didn't know what else to do. sad.gif

maliksmommy replied: Edie I know what you mean about having a hard time letting them cry. The same things happened to us the other night, Malik was crying and I started to get up and DH told me to wait a minute to see what happens and after about 10 minutes he stopped. Doesn't happen that often that DH is right about something wink.gif

mummy2girls replied: she doesnt have a ear infection. because when i took her in for her eye infection over the weekend they checked her ears and they were fine. Im thinking also it could be a growth spurt because she seems always wanting some milk when she wakes up. I dont have a DH im single. I dont lie with jennas father. so its me on my own at night.
im just so tired when i have to work the next day because she is up every 3 to 4 hours and it takes me a bit to go back to sleep after o wake up with her:(

Im hopeing she will get her teeth and she will feel alot better.

maliksmommy replied: I hope Jenna starts sleeping for you soon and gets those teeth. I know it can be very tiring. Still sending LOTS of sleeping vibes you and Jenna's way~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

MommyToAshley replied: When you let your babies cry for a few minutes, are they standing up? Ashley immediately stands up when she wakes up and hangs onto her crib until I come get her. If she just fusses or whines, then I let her lay there for a few minutes and she goes back to sleep. But, the last few nights, she has been screaming... teeth!!!

ediep replied: no, Jason doesn't stand yet.
Hope Ashley gets some relief soon

mummy2girls replied: nope she cantstand yet

Julie (jem0622) replied: They can cry for several reasons at this stage. Developmental milestones can wake them (they want to keep trying what they are learning and they cannot settle). Separation anxiety (you can handle this by letting them cry, or periodically going in to reassure, or sitting by the bed and slowly move yourself out of the room to the hallway over a week or so). Teething (Motrin does not work for all. Tylenol is effective for some. Orajel is awful. Have you tried Hyland's teething tabs? (Wal-Mart herbal supplement aisle) Popsicles are great for numbing the area temporarily).

There is a lot going on at this age. Hugs. You will find what works for you.

Mommieto2Girls replied: We're over here with MommyToAshley. Madison wakes up screaming and she stands in her crib till I get up. Last night she got up like 3 times. I could tell she wanted to go back to sleep but she just couldn't. I gave her baby tylonol and after about 10 minutes or so she went back to sleep . Then about a half hour goes by and she is up again screaming. I didn't get to bed till after 3am again. DH went and slept in the recliner cause he can't handle her crying. ( were not even going to go there ).
I think tonight she might be sleeping in her swing if she does it again. lol Boy I hope these teeth come through soon.

Has anyone noticed their baby having a harder time teething the top teeth than the bottom ones?
Madison had no problem with her bottom ones what so ever.

Julie (jem0622) replied: The top teeth, along w/ all molars, are toughies. Especially the eye teeth. We literally keep Gabe medicated (okay, well, Mommy does when she is home (DH is a SAHD and doesn't always dope him up)) all day. Motrin then Tylenol after 4 hrs and switching back and forth. Plus Hyland's teething tabs. But only on the days when he seems to be having a really rough day/night.

He doesn't eat much solids when he is teething either. My eldest DS was the same way.
