Mu DH is clueless - about fashion

JP&KJMOM wrote: So I bought the cutest pair of denim gauchos last week and put them on this morning while we were getting ready for work. DH looks at me and says WTH are those? I said they are pants. laugh.gif He then proceeds to tell me that they are goofy looking and was I really going to wear them to work. I smiled and said well I sure am. So when we get to work (we work for the same company in the same office) we are standing there with 5 of the guys that we work with and he says he lets take a poll...who thinks Karen pants are goofy looking? LOL No one would agree with him cause I work for all of them and they don't want to make me mad! emlaugh.gif One of the guys did say that he agrees but he knows they are in style.

Does yours have absolutely no fashion knowledge like mine? BTW I am married to a total 100% redneck! He wears Wranglers and boots everyday! LOL! emlaugh.gif

luvbug00 replied: emlaugh.gif unfortunatle I have the exact oppiste problem I'm fashionable dumb and Brad is the best dressed man i know. he pickes out my clothes!

Ashlynn's Mommy replied: I'm with you on this. My bf has no clue about fashion, and he too wears the wrangler jeans with the steel toe boots. Everytime he has a project to do around the house (like cleaning the yard and stuff) he always has to change into jeans and boots. I can hear him coming down the stairs with his boots on, and thats when I know hes getting himself involved in something around the house. It's so funny. I laugh at him all of the time.

mammag replied: Chris is somewhat like that. He likes a classy style of khakis and polo shirts. So when I wore a pair of jeans with holes and high heals he thought I'd lost my mind. laugh.gif The funny thing is he actually has commented on the gauchos and thought they were ridiculous too, so I guess I won't be hurrying out to buy a pair. rolleyes.gif

He can sometimes surprise me though and pick out really cute things. He's gotten me to start wearing more tech gear and I've actually gotten more comments on my outfits being cute....so maybe he knows more than I give him credit for.

luvmykids replied: DH wears jeans and boots only but is suprisingly "hip" ... once in a while he'll "verify" with a question like "So those pants are the new thing, huh?" and when I say yes he says "Cool" rolleyes.gif He picks out great stuff.

TANNER'S MOM replied: Randy has a gaucho thing too..Says they look like Misses Roper would wear off 3's Company.. (which is who I am gonna be for halloween this year)

But he is a wranglers and boots person too! He has nice dress shirts..Thank God the 90's bright colors are out!

lisar replied: I am totally with you. My Dh doesnt know whats in style and whats not. He is also a 100% redneck. Its funny cause if we are going somewhere nice I will pick oput his clothes and lay them out and make him wear them. LOL

JP&KJMOM replied:
OMG Mel did he have a brushpopper in every neon color. emlaugh.gif We did and then the striped ones to. OMG I so chunked those as soon as that was over! emlaugh.gif

luvmykids replied:
MIL's husband still wears those ... on purpose rolling_smile.gif We've tried to modernize him (gently LOL) It's funny how someone can be so picky about being outdated ... we give him new shirts and he says thanks but would you mind if I exchange it and manages to find a neon purple one every time.

JP&KJMOM replied:
emlaugh.gif emlaugh.gif Omg Monica that is so funny. Jason asked me about 2 years ago what happened to all of his. I was really nice but said uh honey I threw them all away about 10 years ago cause they were hideous! He kinda acted hurt!

TANNER'S MOM replied: My Dh had a hot pink CARHART..girls! I tossed that thing.. I really did! He has looked all over for it.. but I am not telling..where it is..

Have ya'll seen it??

laugh.gif

Randy maintained one hot pink brush popper..only because he wears it like a jacket and only at home. It has welding burns..and grease all over it.. only use for it I know!

What about the Brooks and Dunn Flames.. I swear I still see those in a bar..lol

Some people just want to be seen!

JP&KJMOM replied:
OMG you still see them? No way! emlaugh.gif Or when men went through the whole wearing PBR shirts when they did not even know what a freaking bull looked like much less ever rode one!

Mel I am not lying when I say Jason had EVERY neon color brushpopper. Hot pink, orange, green and then he had all the other colors of brushpoppers too. I got rid of all of him. Now he just wears kakhi to weld and work in. Thank goodness! emlaugh.gif

luvmykids replied:
OMG LMAO! Or the western scene, you know with the sunset and running horses? ohmy.gif

TANNER'S MOM replied:
Yes.. that one too

You know I hated Brooks and dunn for along time b/c of that shirt..

And what about when they did his and hers matchign ones..

luvmykids replied:
Yeah, the Brooks & Dunn thing got waaaay out of hand. The Garth Brooks ones weren't great either.

Have ya'll been in my FIL's closet? laugh.gif

JP&KJMOM replied:
ohmy.gif So wrong on every level! Please tell me yall did not have them? emlaugh.gif

luvmykids replied:
I did not. I was single during that period in time rolling_smile.gif

TANNER'S MOM replied: Nope I did NOT. have that.. I wouldn't ever in my life wear anything that matches his.. ever! All though when I was prego I did wear his wranglers a time or two when I needed jeans!

Oo we have forgot the rope belts..

BAC'sMom replied: Sounds like you 3 had fun this morning! Karen, Richard is the Wrangler/ Ropers type too. But he would NEVER tell that my pants were goofy. rolling_smile.gif MEN! growl.gif

redchief replied: I look at what passes for fashion sometimes and the same two questions always come to mind:

1) Who in the world decided this style or that was going to be "in" this year?

2) Why on earth do we listen to them?

Gauchos should have died permanently after their first run of popularity in the 80's. I feel I can say that because I lived through the first run. It wasn't any better than this one. Gauchos look like too small pants, too long shorts, and seem to have a total identity problem trying to figure out just what they are. *sigh* I suppose it was inevitable though, they brought back Bermuda shorts last year (EGAD!!!!).

luvmykids replied:
Hey, I love the bermudas!! They're totally cute with heels and for golf! Much better than daisy dukes!

Ed, please tell me you don't wear socks with your sandals .... rolling_smile.gif

JP&KJMOM replied:
Monica I just spewed DP cause I was thinking the EXACT same thing.

Mel....ROPE BELTS! NOOOOOOOO! emlaugh.gif

redchief replied:
NEVER!

Not even on a bet. Plenty of the Philly types do though. I often wonder if they have a problem deciding on whether to go with the black socks or the white with their Tevas.

For those who must know, I have what can only be described as minimalist fashion sense. I try to buy at least one new suit a year, I buy new jeans/casual pants every year, I refuse to wear my Polo shirts with the collar up (one look at my family will tell you my sexual orientation; I don't need Ralph Lauren to do it for me), and I wear a uniform to work (made of 70% man-made materials... mmmmm).

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Ed, you crack me up!

My DH has no fashion sense...I don't own any guachos, but I KNOW he wouldn't like them. Wouldn't stop me from wearing them though! He likes a style when it's five or more years old. Anything somewhat trendy...he hates! And don't get me started on the styles he wants to wear for himself sometimes! Scary!

My DH is guilty for wearing socks with Birkenstocks (but I think I've mentioned that before)! bawling.gif It just doesn't make sense to me either, because his sister has been a model for over 15 years...Don't you think some of her fashion sense would rub off on him??

TANNER'S MOM replied: Well I love bermuda's.. I love them
They are slimming as our guacho's..and very airy..lol

They need to make them for men.. they always want more air flow...lol rolling_smile.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: Chris, does not understand how some things are in style, no. Gauchos are one of them, any cropped pants are another. Heels with jeans, bermudas, gauchos, anything other than dresses he looks at strangely. I buy what I want to, and most of the time he will make comments when I bring it home to show him, but I ignore them. laugh.gif So no, he is clueless when it come to anything having to do with fashion. As am I, but I like gauchos and cropped pants very much so.

CantWait replied: Ummmm what are gauchos???

kristy-n-chad replied: What on earth is a brushpopper???? blink.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: Ed dresses better then I do he is in style
and I have my own style lol
I'm more like a beach/what ever I mix it all up

My3LilMonkeys replied:
Gauchos are those pants that come to just past the knee or so and are very wide legged....like this pic. I personally think they are funny looking, but they are very "in" this year.

CosmetologyMommy replied: Miguel hates all the gauchos i have. I have the black dressy kind and the denim kind and everytime i wear them we get into it!

Boo&BugsMom replied: Troy wouldn't know style if it hit him over the head in the form of a two by four. He is stuck on wearing only t-shirts and jeans, except when he goes to work or church. Then, it's a polo and pants. He is a country boy, and he still takes his old t-shirts and takes the sleeves off and wears muscle shirts. I try to buy him other shirts, but I find them hiding in the back of the closet most times.

My2Beauties replied:
I wear what I think is cute but Brian - Oh my Gosh he's like a girl he has to be dressed to a tee when he leaves the house or you'd think he was having a tantrum! LOL! tongue.gif

MissyKay2005 replied: I dress my man! He has no clue ether. I don't bother asking him if something looks good or not on me. And I would never let him pick out my clothes I would end up being dressed like my grandma or something...lol. It is fun to play dress up with him sometimes. biggrin.gif

coasterqueen replied:
ITA.

Weren't gauchos actually also worn in the 70's. I could have sworn I saw pics of my mother wearing those gosh awful things! There was a woman who wore them every day at our conference recently and I really wanted to tell they don't flatter her and she's thin and tall. Some people they look good on, but you won't ever catch me wearing those things. They look like huge pj bottoms that shrunk in length on some people.

I often wonder why we listen to those who decide the style as well. Why? I like to in many ways strive to be different. Course my sis says I dress like an old woman. happy.gif

coasterqueen replied: Also I would have to say Ryan has worse fashion sense than I do, if you can believe that. He wears ONLY Levi's 560's that are so baggy in the butt I wonder half the time if he really even has one and polo type shirts with tennishoes. That's it. In the summer it's khaki cargo shorts with polo/golf type shirts and tennishoes.

I barely get him to where something decent for work.

I so wish he'd change his style JUST a bit. But when I tell him that he makes me thankful he's not like most of his friends who spend way more time lookin' "pretty" than their spouses do. A little too "metrosexual" if you ask me. That's what I call my boss. happy.gif

redchief replied:
You could be right Karen, I grew up in the 70's and 80's (did you have to remind me dear? laugh.gif )... I just remember thinking how awful they looked.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: ok so now I have an idea on gauchos... but wtf are brushpoppers????? huh.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: nevermind... i found a pic on google. They're not THAT bad... rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif
