Music...any recommendations for a good CD or tape? - Nursery Rhymes, Lullabyes, etc?

MommyToAshley wrote: Ashley just loves music -- of any kind. She mostly listens to whatever we are playing, but I'd like to get her a few tapes or CDs of kid's nursery rhymes or songs. I bought a nursery rhyme tape at the dollar store, and it sucked. So, looking for recommendations.

Kaitlin'smom replied: I got a free one from the doc office from some drug co. Its pretty good. Other than that one I dont have any more, Kaitlin usually just listens to the radio or cd's I play in the car. On occasion I will turn on classical for her.

supermom replied: Anders loves the one with the 100s Songs for Kids - it's 6 or 7 CD's. Our old partner and his wife got it for him for his first BD thinking it would drive me nuts. He didn't take into account that I'd had three others and had learned how to tune some of that stuff out if I chose to! hehehe

I think he ordered it from one of those TV Offers but I am not sure.

+Zemirah+ replied: "Sleep Sound in Jesus" by Michael Card

It's a Christian tape and is full of the most beautiful, peaceful, gentle lullabyes (no "when the bow breaks the cradle will fall and down will come baby" ohmy.gif )

Some of the lyrics to the title track, just to give you an idea:

"Sleep sound in Jesus, my baby my dear...
Angels are watching, they keep you so near...
know for His sake you'll be safe for the night...
so sleep sound in Jesus; I'll turn out the light."

I love this tape and my babies have always loved it too. thumb.gif baby.gif thumb.gif baby.gif thumb.gif baby.gif wub.gif

MommyToAshley replied: Sounds Great -- where do I find it? I guess I could find it at the Christian book store?

+Zemirah+ replied: probably.. but you can find it cheaper online I would guess, at CBD (Christian Book Distributor, I think it is?) Lemme get ya a link...

Here's a link to the CD and they have tapes too -- just click on "view related products"

ediep replied: Jason got one from the metropolitin museum of art! It is lullabyes sang by a woman with a beautiful voice. WE listen to it everynight at bedtime. I think its called "A songbook companion"

Hillbilly Housewife replied: I have a coupel cd's for Zach. We're believers in the Mozart theory - studies were done, and children who listened to Mozart 10 minutes before a test did 10% betteron tests than kids who didn't... AND kids who listen to Mozart at bed time, or regularly in the womb, or during quiet time, have an IQ more elevated than kids who don't.

So.... Zach listened to Mozart in the womb for the lst 4 months of the pregnancy, and I always turn it on during the night, and my daycare provider plays a cd called Baby Mozart during his naps, and during Mealtime (it calms him down, "music soothes the savage beast", and she has less probelms keeping his attention when she is trying to feed him. I let him have some fun with his food, because he gets a bath after anyways!!!

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Something about classical music hleps infants' and toddlers development along, because of the complexity of the music or something.... baby.gif wub.gif

MommyToAshley replied: hmmmm...interesting.

I heard about the baby mozart videos, have you tried those as well?

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Not yet.,... I have the Baby Einstein videos, but Zach doesn't really seem to be interested for more than a few minutes... there is always something else to distract him... like my cat... or daddy.... lol

But when I notice that he can keep his attention on something for longer than a few minutes, I'll definitely be getting them!! (No sense wasting money if he isn't going to watch them...)

maliksmommy replied: We have Baby Beatles and Malik loves it (and so do I) I've only ever found it at amazon.com biggrin.gif

MommyToAshley replied: LOL -- how cute!

Roxworld replied: I play alot of classical as well for Aidan. In the car if he gets upset....all I have to do is put on the classical station, and it calms him down almost instantly...really weird, but hey.....whatever works....lol I also play Enya for him.....and he really likes it....ok i do too....lol I play it while i'm getting him dressed in the morning....and sometimes we dance together....he just snuggles into my neck.....I love it!!!

jdkjd replied: We have the Baby Mozart cd and I play the Kenny Loggins "Return to Pooh Corner", the songs "Rainbow Connection" from the Muppet Movie and "The Last Unicorn" theme always make me teary.

Bailey seems to like them too. wub.gif
