My Hubby is so sweet!
~Roo'sMama~ wrote: Dh is getting his annual bonus this month, he thinks it will be about $1500 after taxes (its $2500 before taxes) and I've been assuming we'd just pay off more bills with it like we are doing with out tax refunds. But today he called me and told me to start looking at digital pianos online so that I can get an idea of what I want, and this weekend we'll go buy one. I have been wanting a piano for so long... I miss playing so much! I decided that a digital would be best for me right now because then I don't have to deal with tunings and they're a lot easier to move.
I am so excited about this... I didn't really expect to have a piano for a few more years. Now I'm dying to go to my mom's house and look through all our old piano books.
We are going to try to find one for less than a thousand dollars so that Dh will be able to spend some of the money on himself ~ I might be able to get one for 5 or 6 hundred but I will have to see them in the store before I can decide.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Oh Sara that's awesome!!! I'm so jealous that you can play the piano. Scotty's cousin's wife gives piano lessons and makes good money...is that something you could do??
I hope you find a great deal! Pray before you go..that's what I always do and it works!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Aimee I wish I could teach piano, it pays so well! But I just am not good at it. I did one year of student teaching the last year that I took lessons, and it went fine but I just have a hard time teaching... I've just known how for too long and I don't know how to explain it to someone else. I will try to teach my own kids but I don't want to charge someone - I'd be so embarrassed if I couldn't do it well.
BUT all of that being said, maybe after a year or two of brushing up on my piano skills (I'm so out of practice is shameful) I might want to think about it again. I could probably suck it up and at least be able to teach the first few levels. My old piano teacher would be so proud.
And thanks for the reminder... I will definitely pray about finding a good deal. Right now I'm starting to feel guilty and having second thoughts about spending money on myself for something I really don't need - especially since Dh has been wanting a guitar for a long time, too. He talked about using whats left of the money to guy himself a cheapo guitar, but that doesn't feel right to me. I'm going to talk to him about it tonight though and he'll probably say that I should have my piano though so I guess we'll see.
