My Mother In-Law - WHAT A BUTT
Mommy2Isabella wrote: URG!!!
Isabella has her tubes put in tomorrow and we got the call from the hospital as to how much we had to pay in the morning when we admited her.
WELL they said like 1000 dollars, WHAT we don't have that laying around, we thought it was going to be like 300 at max, boy were we wrong, so I called my mom to see if she could lend us the money, well, she doesn't have it right now.
So, Sal calls his mom and she says yes, but gives him this LONG SPEECH of remember where the money is coming from and that is needs to be repaid in a timely manner. WHAT THE HECK, I am so GLAD my mother is completely diffrent. My mom told me, I will pay her back for you guys and you guys can pay me as you get the money.
I guess I am just lucky to have a MONEY MAKING MOMMA ... that doesn't mind helping us out. I am SURE she doesn't expect us to pay her back, but knows we will type deal. I LOVE MY MOTHER!!!!
my2monkeyboys replied: That's a lot of money upfront. I would think they would work out a payment plan or something. Glad your parents are able to help, in their own way!
luvmykids replied: And that is with your current insurance plan? They don't sound so great after all, good riddance.
Mommy2Isabella replied: LOL!!! I have found out that it was a misunderstanding, we just have to pay our out of pocket money or whatever, which is 500 ... because it is an inpatient hospital procedure ...
BLAH They insurance has been WONDERFUL actually, that is a mess up on the hospital's part I believe!
Mommy2BAK replied: Things like that make me glad we have a savings account. (even if it does suck having to take money out of DH's check each week to add to it ) You never know when an emergency might come up. I HATE asking our parents for money, not because they don't have it, but because they may think that we are irrisponsible.
mummy2girls replied: dont you mean out patient day surgery.. or is it diff in the states?
Mommy2Isabella replied: Its an inpatient surgery. I thought i was outpatient too .. but I guess it isn't!
I guess because she is being put under, WHO KNOWS.. but it is considered to be an Inpatient thing, she has to be admitted and everything. the little bracelet and all ... THE WORKS!!!
luvbug00 replied: arughh glad it got remedied. my parents have lent me pleanty over the years. they never expect it back but i always pay. they'd rather ask and get me the help i need ( especially medically) then me use my pride and not get the help.
mummy2girls replied: hmmm odd. Jenna was put under anestetic, bracelete on wrist and bed to recover in after surgery but she went home that same day.. so yes she was admitted for surgery but released after... maby because she is younger...
Cece00 replied: They should let you do a payment plan. You can ask them about it, I'd call today.
Mommy2Isabella replied: WOO HOO PROBLEM SOLVED!!!
We will pay 227.74 tomorrow morning ... MUCH BETTER THAN 500 OR 1000
Thats what happens when you JUMP ON IT like I did ... I was NOT having that paying 1000 dollars. LOL
Anyways, WE ARE ALL SET!!
Jennasmommy- I know I found it weird myself, who knows why ... maybe its a USA thing ... we are weird her dontcha know ... LOL
Calimama replied: Same here, some days I'd rather spend that money but in the long run it's great for emergencies. At least they were willing to help, your mom sounds like a sweetheart. Anyway I hope it goes well for her tomorrow!!
momtoMegan&Alyxandria replied: My best friend's dd had to have surgery when she turned 3 months (that was July 9) and she had to stay overnight just for monitoring to make sure she didn't have a bad reaction to the anextetic. They found a growth (what they thought was on her ovary) while she was still in unterin, but wanted to wait until she was 3 months to operate on her. It turned out fine. It was just a cyst that was removed, and while in there, they found her bladder was attached to her bellybutton, so they repaired that as well. But the anestetic and pain medications were the only reasons they wanted to keep her. She was BFing later that evening fine and was all smiles too. So it sounds like it may just be for precautions sake. Good luck. I hope everything goes well and she is back to herself soon.
gr33n3y3z replied: never heard of a hospital demanding monies before hand for services not yet rendered But I guess its diffrent in many states
gr33n3y3z replied: when John had his done he was in and out with in 4 hours and he had the the little bracelet and all
Our Lil' Family replied: She shouldn't have to stay the night...Thomas just had the same surgery and we were in at 6 and out by 9...so she should be able to go home. Sounds like it's the co-pay that they are wanting up front....that was the same with us too.
Mommy2Isabella replied: We don't have to stay overnight ... sorry if I mistyped something ...
For some reason they are considering her inpatient though. Jennasmommy was saying Jenna was outpatient witht he adenoid surgery.
Im not sure why bella is inpatient, WHO KNOWS, sorry if there were any confusions
C&K*s Mommie replied: I could very well be wrong, but outpatient is considered anything less than 23hrs, 59mins & 59sec. Or if the doc does not admit them. It may not make a difference with the insurance and all, but you may want to clarify the status of Isabella before the surgery. Who knows, the insurance may kick it back out and not pay if everything does not correlate. Like I said I could be wrong though.
I hope she makes a speedy recovery!
Cece00 replied: I have. If you have a deductible they usually want that paid before they calculate the rest of the bill.
When I had kindey surgery I had to pay $300+ the day before my surgery.
Our Lil' Family replied: Same thing with having a baby...we had to pre-pay the $600 co-pay. I think that's standard for non-emergency surgeries.
Mommy2Isabella replied: I did clarify everything with my insurance and the hospital today. I suppose here it is different, it is considered an inpatient procedure.
Thanks for the advice guys!
Cece00 replied: Good luck!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I had to pre-pay the $ for my laser eye surgery, too. Anything non-emergency has to be pre-paid. Especially for aesthetics purposes... since, you know, everything here is free health care wise. jk
gr33n3y3z replied: that is crazy but then again we have eye insurance but when we didnt have it.... it wasnt like that I guess maybe diffrent Dr do it diffrently
gr33n3y3z replied: geeze I guess it depends on the type of insurance you have bc I never had to do that either We always pick insurance without deductables it cost more but we dont have to deal with it either
gr33n3y3z replied: then why didnt you just get the money from your mom in the beging with? And not get Sals Mom involved. non of this makes sence
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Oh no we have insurance for our eyes, for like exams, prescriptions etc... mine was purely an aesthetic surgery... so that I don't have to wear glasses anymore....not covered by the health plan. If I needed laser eye surgery because of an accident, or for some medical reason, then it would have been covered and paid for.
But the prescriptions for the eye ointments were covered... lol
gr33n3y3z replied: Oh I see now Rocky
Chase-N-Paige replied: Good luck today, I hope your DD surgery goes well. We have been thru tubes (2x) and adenoid removal surgery as well. The tubes were a piece of cake, recovery wise, so hopefully she does fine as well.
Not to be the devil's advocate but I would strongly suggest that if you can continue to cover your DD by insurance that you should do that. In theory it sounds great to just pay out of pocket for any medical costs for her for a short time but in reality you never know what could happen to her when you have lapse in insurance. Also, her ENT will probably want follow up appointments after having the tubes as well as hearing tests. Ours did. I just wanted to give you this word of caution as last March our DD came down with a very bad infection that rooted itself in her muscle tissue in the vertibrea in her neck and in her esophagus. She had tests out the wazoo - MRI, CAT scans, blood work and a 6 day stay at the children's hospital. She went from a happy, healthy normal 4 year old to a child that could not move her neck, couldn't eat for the pain and extremely high fevers around the clock in a matter of a few weeks. I don't mean to scare you but just wanted to share since you really never know what may come up.

Mommy2Isabella replied: Because my mother didn't have 1000 dollars for us to borrow this morning.
IT has all been cleared up.
holley79 replied: glad they were able to help. There wasn't a way to set up a payment plan. That's so sad.
Mommy2Isabella replied: Nope no payment plan, we had the money to cover the surgery as I hounded them yesterday and got it all straightened out and it was how much we initially thought it was going to be. SO we ended up not borrowing money from ANYONE, because we had the amount, as we were prepaired for it
Thanks guys!
holley79 replied: I had to pre- pay the 300.00 before I had Annika. I didn't ahve to pay anything for my gall baldder surgery because I had stackable insurance.
