My appointment update
Hillbilly Housewife wrote: Well, The doctor is just beginning to be able to feel my uterus above my pubic bone, it's not out very far at all.
(Then why am I starting to show? I've already had 3 strangers ask me how far along I am!!!!!)
He couldn't hear the heartbeat with the doppler machine.
(Why did he say "That's strange...you usually can." Then he proceeds to see the look on my face, and says "Don't worry... it's probably that your uterus is not out enough yet. I'm sure everything will be fine." Doctors. Ugh.)
He checked that all my papers are in order. I have an appt tomorrow afternoon for the NT - ISPS test, there will be an ultrasound, then a blood test. I asked if there was a possibility of sex detection, and he said that it's doubtfull that the tech will even look for the sex, but if the tech does, it's highly unlikely that it will be obvious.
(I can ask..what do I have to lose? At least I'll be able to SEE the baby's heartbeat...right?)
He also said that my blood pressure was a little on the low side. 95 over 60. DH asked him what that meant, and the doctor told him it was probably nothing to worry about, because during pregnancy, the blood vessels expand, to pump more blood, and lessen the workload on the heart...so it's fairly common and normal to have low blood pressure at this point. He did say that if I had headaches, or spots, or if I felt weak, (like if I take a shower and the water is too hot, it could make me faint) to be careful, and to sit down. If it lsts longer than 10 minutes, call the office to see if I should go in.
(Wierd...I'd have thought my blood pressure was really high because of DH's Mom...heh heh)
So all in all, it was a good appointment. My next one is July 15th.
Kaitlin'smom replied: thanks for the update!
and yes ask the tech to look! you never know. If I had not asked she would not have looked!
MommyToAshley replied: Sounds like the appt went well... although Docs can be frustrating, hehe. Let us know how the U/S goes! I bet you can't wait to see your little one, how exciting! I can't wait to hear all about it!
Mommieto2Girls replied: Good luck at you u/s tomorrow, keep us posted on how it goes. Glad to hear everything is going good, and take it easy while the in-law is around. hehehe.
ediep replied: good luck with the u/s and tests, keep us posted..glad your appointment went well
maestra replied: That happened to me with Jaci- they couldn't hear her hb becuase I "was a little on the thick side" as my dr put it. She does ultrasounds there, so they were able to wheel the cart in and do it then. And there she was, doing just fine. But it's sooooo cool to see them at that point because you can see their whole body, and it's all formed, but so tiny!
We weren't able to determine sex at 12 weeks, but I wish you luck at getting to see it!
supermom replied: Glad all went well at your appt!! Let us know how the U/S went tomorrow - maybe we'll get to see a pic?
Heather replied: AWW that so cool!! Have fun at the U/S!! My blood pressure was very low when I was pregnant as well...my doctor was happy about that...it's better than being high.
CantWait replied: Glad to hear everything went well at your appointment, keep us updated on your u/s.
~CrazieMama~ replied: Good luck with your u/s tomorrow. Hope all goes well. Keep us posted.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Well, I'm back from my loverly day of testing. It took me 2 HOURS on the bus to get there, and only 45 minutes to get back. Can you figure that one? :/
(It's because when I left, there was only the local buses, when I came home, there were all the *Express* busses which ONLY run during peak traffic hours. *sigh* )
The tech took the full hour I was alloted, and she showed me EVERYTHING. We watched the little bean jump around, do somersaults, suck it's thumb, kick, and it IS him I'm feeling. I told the tech that I could feel him moving around, she didn't believe me, so she did a little test. She moved the monitor so that I couldn't see it. Then, she told me to tell her when I felt movement, and she'd tell me whether the ultrasound wand thing picked it up or if it was something else.
3/4 times, when I said I felt it move, she said I was right!
I am 12 weeks and 3 days today.
Everything looks great, and the little bean is 5.5 cm long.
Kaitlin'smom replied: sounds great! any pictures? when will they be able to let you know the sex, or do you want to know?
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Everything sounds great! I sooo miss being pregnant! Keep us updated on your ultrasound and let us know if you find out the sex!
Mommieto2Girls replied: Glad to hear everything is good with the baby. Don't forget to relax and try to take it easy.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Yup..I got 4!! I'm so happy. I was showing them off to my mom yesterday on the way to the Ozzy Concert.... she thought they were so CUTE!! (So did I, of course...but I'm fairly partial!! heh heh!)
I'm supposed to be getting another ultrasound between 18 and 22 weeks, then possibly another one if the baby is too big or somethign could be wrong. Who knows! Hopefully I'll know before I leave on vacation at the end of July for 1 week... (my longest vacation in 3 years!!!)
Hopefully then we'll find out. I didn't really want to know, I wanted the surprse, but DH wanted to know. And he's *not allowed* to know something I don't.... he hehhe he.... (j-k) so now I have to know if he's going to know, becuase he'll hang it over my head!!!
MommyToAshley replied: How exciting! You are making me jealous.
So, let's see those U/S pictures!! You mean you showed your Mom before us??!!?? j/k
Hillbilly Housewife replied: heh heh...almost not.... if it weren't for the fact I had to rush to get ready to go to the concert, I would have posted them right away! rofl!
supermom replied: SO, how was the concert? And did baby like the music? Gonna raise a "head-banger" - teehee
Hillbilly Housewife replied: The concert was absolutely AWESOME!! Although.... you can tell he's getting old..and he's all flubbed up from everything he's taken... he was a little shaky, and seemed a little disoriented sometimes.... but it was overall AWESOME.
of COURSE I,m raising a head-banger! rofl!
CantWait replied: sounds amazing, and what a cute little nick name for the baby...little bean So where are those pics LOL
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I spent the weekend kicking the scanner.... j-k
Seriously, my scanner is on the fritz. I have a scanner at work, but I need to be really sneaky about it....because it's relaly slow, I can only do it certian times during the day, where noone else will be needing it...and even then, I can't be caught. lol!!
