My baby is sick :(
Danalana wrote: Besides the fact that his gums are hurting (he's trying to get his top teeth in), his nose is just pouring. I know it's bothering him and affecting breathing (though he can breathe through his mouth). I've never had this happen, so I don't know how to help...any suggestions? I have been using the bulb syringe to try and keep as much sucked out as I can, but there's more coming out 2 minutes after I do it Poor little guy.
MommyToAshley replied: Try a humidifier. Don't put vicks or anything else in it, just water (and salt if the directions call for it). And, just keep using the bulb syringe. Ashley would scream when she saw that thing coming, but it is the best way to clean them out. We called it the "boogie sucker" -- LOL. I hope he feels better soon, poor little guy.
Danalana replied: Thank you! A friend of mine told me to get Vick's for babies, put it on his feet, and then put socks on him. Anybody heard of this? I have read about people doing it for congestion, but I don't know if it would work for this. I will look into the cool mist humidifier.
MommyToAshley replied: I just know when Ashley was stuffy, our ped said to make sure we used water only in the humidifier.. nothing else.
lisar replied: I just dont know if he is old enough yet for the vicks. Just call the Dr and see what they say.
I hope he feels better soon
Danalana replied: At least he's taking a nap now, and he actually slept pretty well last night. The night before was a different story...I know I was up at least 4 times, maybe 5.
mammag replied: I would think the Vicks would only help if he's congested as well. If he's runny because of cutting teeth I doubt that would help.
I agree with DeeDee's suggestion.
Hope little man is feeling better soon.
Crystalina replied: I used teething tablets for mine. They dissolve so he won't choke. That should help with the pain as well as any Child Tylenol.
For the nose I used Little Noses saline drops or (for the stuffy nose) I used the Little Noses Decongestant drops.
Danalana replied: I've been hearing him whimper like he was awake, but when I go to look at him, I find this...
momofone replied: i have done that it and it does work good luck
mammag replied: AWWWWW!!!! What an angel! I just want to kiss his little cheeks.
Danalana replied: Awwww, I went to peek at him, and he was awake. I took my camera and tried to sneak up on him

Sam & Abby's Mom replied: if he has a fever do NOT put socks on him. Nurses have told me the one thing that will keep a fever from coming down is socks. FYI
moped replied: It is hard, but you can use that saline stuff, don't know if it really helps.
Jack woke up with a cold too............
moped replied: Yes it does work!
Sam & Abby's Mom replied: I agree with Dee Dee about the humidifier in his room - use a cold mist one, though -- not a warm humidifier.
Poor little guy !!!
Danalana replied: Just curious as to why not a warm one...
Sam & Abby's Mom replied: our doctor told us bacteria thrives on warmth and wetness -- so warm humidifiers can be breeding grounds for bacteria if they are not cleaned alot and properly.....
mommymommy replied: oh, I'm so sorry..It's terrible to have a little one sick! I hope he gets better soon!
sparkys2boys replied: Oh that's so sad. Hope he feels better soon
BAC'sMom replied: I hope he gets better soon. Teething SUCKS!
DillsMommy replied: Poor little guy. Peyton is going through the same thing. He's got about 4 teeth coming in and now he's sick. Teething is bad enough on it's own. I've been using "baby rub". It's like Vics--only for babies. It's made by Little Remedies/Little Colds and can be used on babies 3 months and older... Hope he starts feeling better soon.
Calimama replied: I've heard of it but our pedi doesn't recommend that. He said if you must than wait until a year.
It's no fun, Miabella has it right now too. We use the humidifier and I also sit in a warm bath tub with her, it makes her nose run even more but it breaks a lot of that stuff up.
My2Beauties replied: A couple of things:
Take him with you when you take a shower and let him sit in a bouncy or something, the mist helps break it up.
Give him a bath with that vapor bath stuff (you can use it on babies 3 months of age or older)
Use Saline Nose Drops and bulb syringe the crap out of his little nose
Personally, I don't think Vick's works well.
A&A'smommy replied: awww bless his heart I hope he feels better... I think it might be this weather on top of his teething we are all stuffy and runny here too
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Yes and it works well! I know it sounds strange but it is an awesome remedy! I always heard not to use the bulb too often as it encourages them to make more mucus as the purppose of it is to rid the body of whatever the irritant is....I will be praying he feels better soon!
PrairieMom replied: My mom keeps trying to give us one, and I refuse to use it. little bacteria hotels...
My2Beauties replied: My doc has always told me the opposite, it's like blowing your nose, it's clearing the mucus out. They always said suck suck suck that nose constantly.
MommyToAshley replied: That's why you wash and rinse it after every use.
stella6979 replied: Poor Kade. I hope he feels better soon.
jacobsmama replied: I hope he feels better soon. I think the other gals have you covered on what to do for him.
