Sorry, I'm totally not a fan of his. He just seems soooo cheesy to me. Maybe it's because I remember the "copa cabana" skit on Sonny and Cher in the 70's but comon!

I mean, I liked Tiny Tim when I was little (oh and that "rock the boat, don't rock the boat baby") but I would certianly not go bonkers over him now. Wierd!

DansMom replied: Well... OK, I'm old and definitely cut my teeth on Barry Manilow ballads. He's a songwriter, a piano player and an entertainer. He's a sincere person who helps others, which makes him appealing. I just love pop ballads, so even though I'm not crazy about all of his songs, in general I think he does what he does extremely well.

Some day, people from today's generation will be asking: "why is that audience going crazy over Billy Joel"? He really is a similar phenomenon. (Now I'm realizing that comparison also dates me---Billy's been around a while too.) Point is, the balladeers of your generation have a special place in your heart, I guess.

Boys r us replied: Okay..I so totally hate the song Mandy and everytime I hear it OR HEAR ABOUT IT (uh hum) it makes me think of that goofy redheaded kid on American Idol, whom I could not stand either...and I saw Oprah yesterday too and I thought to myself..WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE WOMEN? Swooning over freaking BARRY MANILOW?!?! But evenb worse than that, WHAT IS WRONG WITH OPRAH FOR HAVING HIM ON THE SHOW??????????????? I would have much rather been on the show the day before and received my new car just for being in the audience!

Now, I do have to say..I do like to hear the Copa Cabana when I'm kicked back by the pool with a daquari in hand

Don't be daft, I'm only 21 and I have of course heard of him! can I say Cassie has a strange passion for that Copa Cabana song and will make me dance around the living room with her to it if she can find it . . . for that reason I don't mind it because Cassie is so cute when she dances to it!! xx
