My conversation with Hanna yesterday - Hilarious

H: Mommy, I know bat's sleep upside down, so what do snakes do?
M: (not really knowing) I think a lot of snakes burrow themselves in the ground and sleep there, some may sleep up in trees
H: What do birds do when they sleep?
M: They sleep in the trees or in their nests
H: What about owls?
M: Owls are a type of bird, they sleep in the trees
H: What do dogs do?
M: They sleep pretty much anywhere their owner will let them, the floor, couch, beds, their own doggie beds, outside in the grass...
H: What about kitty cats?
M: Same as dogs
H: What about choo choo trains (Daddy's works for the railroad so choo choo trains is a constant subject in our house)
M: Huh? Choo Choo trains aren't alive, they don't sleep
H: Mommy yes they are alive, what about Thomas and Toby the Trains?
M: Oh they sleep standing up on the train track
H: What about cops?
M: Cops?
H: Yeah cops bad boys bad boys what ya gonna do
M: .... Um...you mean how do they sleep, they're just like us???
H: No I mean they arrest people when they're bad and they help people when they're sad
M: Yeah they do that....(this whole time I'm wondering how we went from animals to inanimate objects to humans... )
H: What about water...
M: Hanna I'm confused
H: Oh nevermind mommy!



My child is absolutely hilarious! I swear I love these conversations with her.

And for future reference, most snakes like to sleep in warm places in the sun (like on rocks where the surface of the rock will be warm also) because they are cold blooded.

I love conversations like that too...the things that kids think about and are curious about just makes you want to sit back and forget about life and think like them for a minute...the innocence is so sweet
We live right at a train junction so trains are a big part of life here too

avory&samsmom replied: That's so cute! My son has become quite the expert on animals recently, since he spends at least half his day watching Animal Planet...I love it when they're so inquiring! Makes the toddler years so much fun!
