My dog died
Ashlynn's Mommy wrote: Well she's not my dog, she is the family dog, and she died yesterday at 3:00pm. We had her for 14 years. Her name was mandy. She was a chocolate cockerspaniel. My poor mother is so upset, as we all are, but it hit her the hardest. I have my own place now, and last year I adopted a puppy, so I think that's why it's a little easier for me to deal with, but I feel so bad for my mom. She want's me to come over, but I can't. It will be too upsetting for me.

mammag replied: I'm so sorry. That happened to me right after moving out and it was rough. I would just try to go over and see your mom anyway. I think when it happened to us my dad just kind of needed to feel like Rocky was important to us too.....kind of to validate his upset feelings.
They can really become like children.
Many hugs to your family and especially your mom.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: I'm so sorry for your loss. The same thing happened shortly after I moved out of my Dad's house too. We had Tasha for as long as I can remember. My dad had her creamated and has her ashes on top of his gun cabinet.

mom21kid2dogs replied: So sorry about the passing of your family's dog. We lost our cocker of 13.5 years this April and it still stings.
ITA with Jeanie~go see your mom. Even though it's hard, it's really the best way to deal with it. I'm sure she'd love a hug and a chance to share some memories of your dog together. Anything you can do to validate her loss (and yours) will really help. Pets are often very big parts of our lives and we honor them well by remembering them fondly!
Ashlynn's Mommy replied: I just wanted to thank everyonr for your kind words it really helped me alot. You guys are great.
