My husband got laid off
zdk753 wrote: Perfect timing huh . He was working as a diesal mechanic for a road paving co. That was the 1st ? he asked them was what would happen during the winter mos. He was assured that since he wouldn't be paving the streets his job was safe. Then today they let him work his shift & then handed him his unemployment papers along w/ 15 other people. I'm going to go tomm. w/ a friend of mine & try to get on where she works. Have to do something. I can't stand the thought of my kids' not having x-mas. The bad thing is we just turned in loan papers to try & get caught up on our bills & to help out w/ x-mas. Now I hope that we get it & just put some money back to help pay out the payments.
CantWait replied: Oh I'm so sorry. Hopefully you guys find something really soon. It'll be tight, but it'll work out
pinniy replied: If you don't mind me asking, where in OK are you? I just PCS'd from there, and I know quite a few people from base, who know people everywhere in OK. You know how it is, there. Anyway, my hubby is from OK, also. Maybe we know of something in your area. I can't promise anything, but I'll try my best.
I'll pray for you, and ask around. I hope everything works out, even if I can't help.
C&K*s Mommie replied: oh Alayna! I am soooooo sorry to hear that your husband got bad news at an even worse time! I will keep you in my prayers, that something will come about. Many, many, many 's for all of you at this stressful time.
mckayleesmom replied: OH...Im so sorry sweetie....
Boys r us replied: I'm sorry!!! You're right it is very bad timing!!! I've been in your shoes more times than I'd like to count. My DH works in the IT field and it seems like everytime we turn around, he's getting laid off due to outsourcing!
Actually..with us, it's everytime we spend a huge chunk of money, right after he gets laid off! He's been laid off 3 times in the last 2 years, once right after we bought a new Tahoe(he was driving it home from buying it when they called and told him, and twice the day after we returned home from a vacation.
I hope he finds something soon!!!
adixon24 replied: Hang in there dear, that's terrible! Good Luck!!!!!
MommyToAshley replied: So sorry. You don't need this added stress during the Holidays. I bet your DH will find somethign better soon. Good luck on your job search... let us know how it goes.
zdk753 replied: all for the words of encouragement & . We both went & put in applications today. He is hoping that he's the one that gets a job first b/c he knows that I love being a stay at home mom. The bank called today & we got approved for the loan. Now we just have to hope they don't realize that no one is working right now. We put some money back to be able to make the payments for a couple of mos. & paid all our bills up for 2 mos. That makes at least a few things I won't have to worry over. We still have a little left for x-mas which I am so glad for. I will keep you all updated.
moped replied: Ahhhhh so sorry to hear this. Everything always works out!!!!!!
zdk753 replied: Sorry I haven't updated in awhile. Tues. we found out that Phillip isn't going to be getting unemployment. They say he didn't earn enough. He had been there since Mar. Mon he is going to try & file an appeal. Thankfully we had paid our bills up so I don't have to worry about those until the end of Jan. I went today for an interview w/ a janitorial company. It sounded promising. He said he had a couple more people to interview today & then they will be closed for the holidays. He did say though to expect a call Mon. Let's hope I get the call.
kimberley replied: sorry to hear that. hope the loan goes thru, dh wins his appeal and you both get jobs quickly in the new year.
MamaJAM replied: {{{{{HUGE HUGS}}}}} I am so sorry that happened. Hope things work out for you at your friend's workplace.
MommyToAshley replied: I hope your DH's appeal goes through. Your job prospect does sound promising... it's encouraging that he said to expect a call on Monday. But, geesh, he could have let you know before he left for Christmas.
I'll say a little prayer for you and your DH.. it couldn't hurt.
amynicole21 replied: I'm so sorry. I will never understand why employers do this the week before Christmas. It seems like more people get laid off this time of year than any other I hope you can figure something out quickly.
Sarah&Mackenzie replied: I know how you feel, my DH just got laid off too. He is the one who makes the most money and his unemployment is not that much. I am glad that I work and get a weekly check, but I don't make that much. Hopefully the weather will get nicer sooner and they will be able to go back to work sooner than later!!!
jem0622 replied: I am so sorry that this happened. I do not like that they were dishonest about the possibility of lack of work!
