My kids' school on lockdown - some positive thoughts/prayers please
jcc64 wrote: I just got a phone call that my two boys' middle/high school is on lockdown right now and has been all afternoon. A classmate committed suicide, though it was across the street from the campus, and I don't know how it's connected to the lockdown. I obviously can't get through to the school, and it's surrounded by police right now. I'm freaking out, though I'm not thinking the worst. On top of that, I'm due at a final exam at 4:30. Obviously that's way on the back burner, but just another drop in the bucket. Please send some positive energy our way and especially for that poor 11th grade boy (who I've known since he was little) who ended his own life this afternoon.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Lots of P&PT's! I hope you hear something soon.

cameragirl21 replied: Oh. that's terrible, Jeanne, and how scary for you. Keep thinking positive, hopefully it will be resolved quickly. Sending prayers and thoughts your way!
coasterqueen replied: Oh gosh, Jeanne. Definitely sending pt's your way. KUP when you can.
My2Beauties replied: OMG I am keeping you in my thoughts Jeanne. Please KUP!
CantWait replied: Oh gosh, many PTs your way and for the boy's family.
mckayleesmom replied: Stay calm, everything will be alright. I remember when I was in high school a kid killed himself on the football field with his dads handgun and they locked down our school also.
mom21kid2dogs replied: Prayers for the family of the young man. Hopefully they just have the school locked down to secure & investigate the scene.
A&A'smommy replied: Jeanne wow I'm SO sorry to hear this I'm saying a little prayer right now!!!
redchief replied: Jeanne, please update us on what happened!
MommyToAshley replied: So sorry I didn't see this until today. I know I would have been a bit freaked out as well. Please update us.
My prayers go out to the family of the boy, how sad.
MommyToAshley replied: Jeanne, where are you? We need an update.
jcc64 replied: Hi and thank you everyone. We're all ok. The kids were released yesterday afternoon and came home fine, if a little shaken up. The reason for the lockdown was apparently to ward off any copycat situations, to keep students from trying to visit the nearby suicide scene, and to keep the press away from the kids. It would have been nice to know all of that yesterday. I am sick for the family of that poor boy. Thank you so much for your prayers and positive thoughts. What a wonderful, supportive community we have here. to you all.
msoulz replied: Oh I am just seeing this too ,and I am so sorry for you, your children and the community. What a horrible tragedy.
