My precious baby

We got there a lttle before 6:30 on Monday morning. They got my IV started and went over all the formalities. They didn't start the pitocin until 8. I stayed at 2 centimeters until 10, and then I went from 2 to 6 by 12 The nurse had said he would probably come between 6 and 9 that night, but we were starting to feel like that wasn't the case Oh, I should mention that he broke my water at 11, and that's when everything started really moving along. And the contractions started to REALLY hurt. Luckily, my 2 closest friends came and they pretty much coached me through it (they're both nurses). I was in more pain than I could have ever imagined, and I wanted to go natural...but that went out the window when I got to 8 centimeters. I told them I had to have it NOW God was with me because the anesthesiologist was coming out of the room across from me, and the nurse grabbed him up. The worst part was the 2 contractions I had while sitting on the bed, waiting for the epidural (I did almost all my labor on a birthing ball). They made me stayed hunched over, and that only intensified the pain. I was so close to losing it...I screamed a few times Anyway, after the epidural, the contractions were less in intensity, and I was in happy town pretty soon. Unfortunately, my time in happy town was short lived because I went right to 10, and all the pressure was back I pushed for almost 2 hours before he finally came! The doctor came in and looked at me...he said "ok, on the next contraction, let's have a baby!" And I did! When he came out they put him on me for just a few seconds, and I'll never forget that feeling for as long as I live.
He was 6 lbs 10 ozs and 19 1/2 inches long. He is the most beautiful thing I have ever looked at I have been so emotional it's not even funny. When I look at those sweet, trusting little eyes...I can't even explain it, but it makes the tears flow. He is very sweet-natured, and there's no way I could love him more.
The doctor did an epesiotomy because he said my perineum was thick (they did a lot of massaging before-hand, but it wasn't enough). I tore a little more, so I have a 2nd degree tear. I think my bottom hurts more today than it has hurt so far. I didn't get my Rx's for pain filled though, so that could be the reason. I just didn't wanna take anything that might make him sleepy.
He lost 5 ozs in the hospital, but he is back up an ounce or two. He is a little jaundiced, but the doc thinks he will be fine, considering that I am breastfeeding and he is a pooping CHAMP
I will post pics a little later tonight...Richard is gone to WalMart, so I would have to get the camera out of my truck. I can't wait for you to see my little miracle
