My "baby" brother could use encouragement
KatieLeigh79 wrote: Hi Everyone -
It's been a rough few weeks here, expect a nice "vent" post assuming i can find time tonight or tomorrow *laugh* But im asking for everyone's help that is willing - My brother got sent off to basic 3 days before his 19th b-day and a month early with a different group of guys because of the shortage with everyone getting shipped right to Iraq after training. Unfortunatly he isn't with any of the guys he signed up to be a Marine with and has no friends in this group that is getting sent to boot camp. He has already been over there a little over a week and a half, but i drove 3+ hours out to the airport with my little "high needs" baby to send him off and he was so scared and nervous he asked me to leave which broke my heart... anyhow enough rambling if anyone can find it in themselves to write him a little note of encouragement - you can either mention you know me from online, or not bother mentioning it at all please PM me and i will send you the addy asap, i was told and realized after i posted that it maybe a little safer if i just pm you back with it- we have hardly any family alive and willing to write anymore and there is only so many things i can say in letters to raise his spirits... If the .37 cent stamp is a problem for anyone that is willing to write let me know i can see what i can do about getting one to you if need be. This would really mean the world to him to at least get a few letters im sure - he still has about 12 weeks to go and any help is appreciated. Thanks so much everyone

Mommieto2Girls replied: I wish I could, I know my sister would love to, and I will let her know, but my husband is a little on the jelous side so writing to another man is kinda out of the question.
~CrazieMama~ replied: I just heard, I would love to write to your brother. This wouls be soooooo exciting!!!! I will write one to him today and it will be in the mail tomorrow. I will mention you though, I don't want to make myself look goofy. kwim?
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I would be happy to send your brother a note of encouragement. I am all up for writing our troops and service people. It can be so lonely.
KatieLeigh79 replied: Thanks you guys are so sweet - his girlfriend left him 2 weeks before he was shipped out, and to make matters worse he ended up with a heel that was so badly blistered from a 12 mile march with 140lb packs on 2 days before he got called out unexpectedly.... i would love to know how he's doing - granted he cant write or call until he gets through week 11 - 2 weeks before he is out to let us know if he passed rifle training or if he gets kept in another 2 weeks - if any of you need extra stamps to make up for this sweet deed let me know !!!!

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I think I can spare a .37 cent stamp, but you are sweet. I'm glad I could help!
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Send me the info I would love to boost his spirits!
CantWait replied: same here, but send him my best wishes....and luck.
MomofTay&Sam replied: I will send out a card with a note tomm.
KatieLeigh79 replied: Thank you again everyone that is willing and able to help out To the women who's DH would be jealous - I really don't think you could handle the 19 year old trouble maker *laugh* But i mentioned to my dad that i was able to find more people to help with this little task at hand we have going on and he said to tell everyone thank you as well and wanted to know if i offered to take care of stamps, i guess you can see now where i get it from... but thanks again it really does mean the world and i know it will to him as well.
..now i just have to talk my dad out of driving down to watch him graduate in Nov. im not sure i could handle 40+ hours both ways in a car with him, my grandmother (who's insane) John (who hates his car seat nowdays) and me... could be grounds for murder!
MomofTay&Sam replied: I was telling DH about this and wondering if I could send some kind of care package? Want to know what he suggested sending? A naughty mag.. My DH is a riot! and NO I wont be sending that. We both feel our service men and women are very important and are honored to be able to do something, even if small.
CantWait replied: My dh is overseas right now and loves to receive packages.
Things like goodies, cookies, chips, candy. Tissue, magazines, protein bars and cereal bars. Things that remind them of home, maybe a pic so he knows who it's coming from.
dolfinrse replied: I'd be happy to send a note over to your brother. PM with his address. My bil just got back from overseas and my dad went overseas a few days after my wedding a few years ago. I never got to really say goodbye to him when he left because we were on our honeymoon. After that, I didn't see him for about 6 months, so I know how hard it can be on the serviceman/servicewoman and their families.
MommyToAshley replied: Send me his addresss, we'll send him a note. I think we should all support our service men and women!
