My son is a klepto!
Celestrina wrote: Today DH, Ben, and myself went to the supermarket. We had one of the carts that look like a truck in the front so Ben can face foward. When we were in line Ben grabbed some candy without anyone noticing. We didn't find out until we put him in the car. What would you have done?
salmndr007 replied: First question: How old is Ben?
Depending on his age, (older than 5) I would have made him take it back in and give it back, then let him know how bad stealing is. I would also have taken away something he enjoyed, since he took candy, I am assuming that he likes it. This means no candy for an allotted amount of time, say for a week. Hope this helps.
Lexismama replied: Its kinda cute, as long as he isnt too old LOL! I guess that is a perfect time to teach him that stealing is a BIG nono!!!
luvmykids replied: That has happened to me more times than I can count! I've always noticed while the guy from the store is helping me, I usually put the kids in the car while he puts the groceries in the back and I give it to him to take back in. But they were pretty young the last time it happened, like under 2. Now, at almost 4, they know it's wrong and don't do it. I had to learn to check the cart before we got out of the store!
Celestrina replied: He's two. Sorry, I should have posted that first. I forgot it's not in my sig anymore.
CantWait replied: Anthony has done the same thing at the age of 2, (he took a little teddy bear), I simply took it back to the store to customer service and apoligized. They kind of looked at me stupid. Whatever!!
What did you do?
Edward's Mommy replied: My mom told me that I used to do stuff like that when I was a toddler. My parents always had to search my pockets before they left any place!!

mummy2girls replied: Jenna did that at 2.. but she stole a hat from the dollar store. It was the exact same hat she had already at home so when she put it on her head it never crossed my mind until i get hiome and noticed the tag...
jacobsmama replied: Jacob is 2 and I'm not sure what I would do If this happend but I think take it back in, he probably doesn't understand what he is doing is bad yet, but if he was older I can understand making HIM take it back in and being scolded.
~~*Missi*~~ replied: ohhhhh I would have just told him no no and explained it to him but at 2 what can you really do. LOL its cute thou. Sabrina does that ALL the time, well grabs for the stuff anyway....
I would've told hubby to return it LOL
PhiMuMommy replied: alex filled FILLED.. his pockets with dif color paints from michaels the last time i was in there. i caught most of them but found another one when i was strapping him in the carseat. we both went back in there and he told the lady sorry. she thougt it was hilarious. i was embarassed.
he's 2 also.
Bee_Kay replied: Tyler first did that when he was about 3.... but he wasn't with me, he was with grandma
She brought the kids to the store to have portraits done, and when the lady picked Tyler up to set him on the seat, she noticed "something" in his pocket.
POKEMON TAPE!!!
LOL!!
MamaJAM replied: Since he's so young - I would have just taken it back inside and returned it myself explaining that you didn't see him take it. If he was older (5+) I would make him return it saying he was sorry.
