Naked kids outside

Anyone else have thoughts on what age kids should wear clothes while outside in the neighborhood?

stella6979 replied: Hmmm....not sure about the age, but for me personally, I'd just feel uncomfortable knowing anyone could be looking. Avery plays naked in the backyard all the time, but we do have a privacy fence. Not saying there's anything wrong with it, I'm just a paranoid freak.

My3LilMonkeys replied: Well, I make my kids wear clothes outside now (they love to be naked as well, we just keep it inside) at 3 & 4, but there are some questionable people in my neighborhood and that definitely influenced my decision. I wouldn't be surprised or offended to see kids of that age naked outside, but I do agree with you that it shouldn't go much older than that.

mckayleesmom replied: My kids are little nudists too....For a matter of fact I just caught Russell out in the backyard with only a shirt on. I made him go put clothes on though.

I don't mind if they run around naked inside, or even in a yard with privacy fence, but we don't have privacy fence here so I make them wear clothes outside....

MommyToAshley replied: I don't think there is anything wrong with it, however I always had Ashley wear clothes outside. I am paranoid too and didn't want anyone seeing my baby nekkid.

Ditto for me. Where I live they are always naked. Well, Evan is anyway. We live in the country and no one can see my house and main yard unless they drive a good way up my driveway. DH always wanted a house where he could pee off the front porch without worrying about neighbors. Gee, I wonder where the kids get it from.

However, if I lived in town I would not let my child be naked over the age of one. I fear perverts like nothing else and I would not want my child's naked body in there gross, perverted, pedophile heads. With that being said though I would never think less of anyone who did let toddlers run naked in town. Now if the kids came out every day without clothes on I would wonder about the parenting but on a hot day or playing in water or whatever no.

Our Lil' Family replied: I don't think Thomas has ever been outside naked...maybe only after being in the pool and stripping his suit off before going inside. Tim doesn't even like for him to walk around inside in just a tshirt and underwear...and now because of it Thomas insists on pants/shorts.

We talked with a neighbor the other day and he commented jokingly, "Do your children ever wear clothes?". Wasn't sure how to take that, but it got me thinking..

The backyard is fenced so I have no problem with what they do there. Hell, my wife has been naked out there and I was like "Uh we have neighbors, you know"

I think I'll start the process of making them at least have underwear on when they are in the front yard....

grandma replied: Now-a-days there's way too many sick people running around, I wouldn't let my kids go nude unless they were in the backyard hidden by a privicy fence.

redchief replied: Being in a resort town, not a day goes by when we don't see little kids running around without any clothes on. I agree with DV, 4 is about the high limit. The local police have gotten complaints, though rarely. They usually blow them off.

They like to go out front to get the mail with me and it's always about the same time Wil has stripped down naked in the house. So I ask him to get underwear on. Not an age thing. Just because it's polite to neighbors that may mind IMO.

moped replied: Jack has never been outside naked other than me running out with his swimming trunks and changing him out there.............no reason really, I just assume that if i am dressed he should be too.

lisar replied: I dont let mine run outside naked. But Raygen has on more than one occasion. I live out in the woods so even if she come out naked its not like anyone could see her.

My2Beauties replied: Aubrey might sometimes run around with just a diaper on outside but Hanna, she's 4 and she doesn't run around naked. On rare occassions she has went out on the back deck with us with only a shirt on and her underwear in the evenings before bed maybe but her shirts are long, like to her knees and you can't see anything but her legs. I live too close to too many sex offenders so my kids always have clothes on outside. I think once they are potty trained I'd say they should have clothes on. Everyone has seen a baby in a diaper but I think if a pedophile saw my daughter with just her panties on or nekkid for that reason I'd freak out.

Teesa®© replied: My children have never run around nekkid. It took me a LONG time to convince them that it was OK to sleep in just their panties/BVD's. Even in the heat of summer, they were always in jammies at night.

This year, summer is hotter and I'm finding it tough to convince DS that it's OK for him to not wear a shirt - in the house! DH sits around in his BVD's, and I could care less if the children ran around in their's. I run around in a bikini top and my panties most times [I keep a pair of sweats under my puter desk in case someone pops over unexpectantly ]

Boo&BugsMom replied: Tanner has always felt VERY comfortable in his own skin! He will strip right then and there, wherever he is without thinking about it. It was around the time he turned 2 1/2-3 when I got more stern about it and teaching him about modesty. Up until then I just laughed it off a bit. I never have or will let him just run around bare-naked though, in or out. He always at least has shorts/pants on, swimming trunks, or whatever. Sometimes he just wears his undies to bed. I guess for me personally, teaching children to be modest is important.
