Naptime - When and for how long?

Bamamom wrote: When do your kids go down for a nap and how long do they usually sleep?

MyLuvBugs replied: lorelei usually goes down for her nap around 1 or 2 and I always get her up at 5pm. Then she goes down for bed around 10:30pm.

luvmykids replied: I think at Tripps age they were sleeping from 7p-7a, 10a-noon, 2p-4p. That lasted until they were about 1 or 1 and a half, then it was just one nap a day from noon-3p.

msoulz replied: Mine is a power napper. She usually falls asleep while eating then stays asleep until I set her down so as long as I sit in one place she sleeps. But I get bored.

If she does nap for an extended time it is usually around 1 or 2 pm for 2 - 3 hours. Sometimes when I set her down she stays asleep (but not usually!) rolleyes.gif

siblingtooolivia replied: Mine is going to be 4 in June but she still naps for the most part unless we are out and about, but I try not to do that too much cause she really still needs to nap. She goes down between 1-2 and still naps for 2-3 hours! tongue.gif

AlexsPajamaMama replied: I put Alex to bed for a nap at 12:30 and he is asleep by 1 until 3ish
and at night he sleeps 8pm-6:30am

siblingtooolivia replied: Sorry just realized this is more of an infant forum!! I de recall though by 1 - 1 1/2 she was napping once a day from about noon-3, now it is the same but she just goes down a little later cause she sleeps longer in the am!

holley79 replied: I try and get Annika to take a nap around 2 on my days that I have had to work. Then I get her back up around 4 when I have to get up. There are plenty of times though she gets up before then though.

mom2tripp replied: Your little boy is TRIPP??? That's what we call my little one!!! rolling_smile.gif

Is he a third by chance????

At that age I think Tripp was going down for two naps and they were both a couple of hours long--

ashtonsmama replied: My little guy still takes 3-4 naps a day, usually 2 hours long each time, but sometimes he takes a 30 minute or so nap in the late afternoon when he's had a long day...but usually he goes down around 10-11 for the first one, is up for an hour, then goes down from 12-2, and usually 2-3:30 or so...sometimes he takes the 5-5:30 one too...it really depends though, but he gets cranky if he doesn't get enough sleep...

Cece00 replied: Natalie sleeps whenever she wants. She *kind of* has a schedule, but not really..here's how it usually goes

Usually she'll sleep like 1.5-2 hrs after waking up & eating (nap @ around 8-9:30). Maybe for 1-2 hrs

Then she'll be up for about 3-4 hrs (til maybe like 1-2:30) and sleep for about 2-3 hrs

Then she'll be up for like 2 hrs (until around 4), sleep for about 1-2 hrs

Then up for like 3-4 hrs, sleep all night (around 8-9 pm)

NEWMOM05 replied: Kathryn's nap varies. She normally wakes up at 8am for the day , then goes down at around 10 or so and sleeps for abput an hr. She is then up for a few hours, then goes down at around 2 pm. She lseeps for about an 1- 2 hours depending on the day. Then small little cat napsd from then on.

Recently we started teething and her naps sometimes are only about a 1/2 hour- an hr. at most. wacko.gif

Bamamom replied:
Its been a grandparent infested weekend and I'm just now reading these - yep, Tripp is a "the third." It's nice to meet someone else who didn't think they were doing their child a terrible injustice to call him Tripp. People are constantly telling us that we'll regret calling him that, but I have some friends who were unable to have children whose last name was Tripp so its kind of a tribute to them too.

Bamamom replied: Tripp takes 4 naps a day but they rarely last longer than 30 minutes each. Any suggestions on how to make him nap longer. I'd give anything for naps that lasted an hour!!!! thumb.gif

mom2tripp replied:
I'm glad to finally meet someone that calls their son Tripp also thumb.gif

My inlaws are from New Jersey and they were like WHAT ARE YOU CALLING HIM THAT FOR??? I said well, he's Salvatore Luciano III and I'm not calling him that!!!
They had never heard of Tripp!!!

moped replied: At that age, Jack slept ALL the time - but I am the sleep nazi, so he slept for about 2 hours every 2 hours or less.............now he is one nap of about 2.5 hours

With us it was that his grandfather is already called Charles and his dad is Gary and I just didn't want him being dubbed "little Charles" or "little Gary" for his whole life. Neither my husband or I are very tall and I just couldn't go the kid like that blush.gif

Bamamom replied:
So if I UPS Tripp to you do you think you could get him to nap like that???????

I shouldn't complain. The kid has been sleeping all night since he was 8 weeks old. thumb.gif
