Need help with baby name...
jdkjd wrote: I want Jonathan Ryan for a boy name (Jonathan was my brother's name, he passed away 12 years ago, and Ryan is DH).
But Ryan doesn't want his name in there and wants Jonathan as a middle name. Also, Ry is 100 percent Irish so I try to find Celtic/Irish names.
Ideas so far are: Broderick (Brody) Fynn Grady Pierce Logan
I'm not excited about any of the above, but am having problems thinking of names that sound good with Jonathan.
Any suggestions??
jcc64 replied: Quinn?
Hillbilly Housewife replied: My cousin's baby is named Callum....that's Celtic too...
But I like Logan out of your choices.
Kaitlin'smom replied: how about
Aidan- Celtic
Dillan- Irish
Kegan- Celtic
and what is with DH not waning his name there, My DH also did not want his name used if we had a boy.... I thought the boys name I pick out was nice, couse it was only a back up. since we knew we were having a girl, he said but what if its a boy...so I came up with a name just incase
A&A'smommy replied: i like Aiden and Logan they both sound good to me...
amynicole21 replied: I like Brody! I think it's cute. I also like Logan, Fynn (although it sounds better as Jonathan Fynn). Some other Irish names are Cullen and Connor.
Schnoogly replied: I had a ton of Irish names picked out (we're mostly Irish). Iain is the irish/gaelic spelling of Ian. Rowan was my second choice, even though it is mostly a girl's name now it is technically a boy's name. We were actually waiting to see him to decide between Rowan and Iain. Blonde hair=Iain! I can't remember any more, but there are lots of baby name sites that allow you to sort by ethnicity to get just Irish or celtic names.
When do you find out the gender?? It must be only a few weeks or so? Are you hoping for a boy?
My brother's name is Jonathan David. That sounds OK together, but David is so blase and boring (sorry to any davids out there!)
I like Flynn better than Fynn, and Pierce not so much. The others are OK.
chloe&tysmommy replied: I am the WORST at picking out names Soooo.....good luck to you
DansMom replied: For Irish names I really like Daniel (he he). I also considered Nolan, but it doesn't go well with Jonathan does it? Of your choices I like Fynn and Brody the best. Good luck with this decision!
kit_kats_mom replied: Geez Ryan...Lighten up already. LOL
A middle name of Johnathan makes it really hard to find a nicely flowing name. Would he be willing to use Johnathan as a first name & one of the choices for a middle name? If so, then alot of the names youve picked would flow nicely. Out of your choices, I like Broderick, Logan, Grady & Pierce the most.
Good luck!
CantWait replied: Schnoogly is right, there are lots of baby name sites that allow you to search by culture, etc.....DH and I both wanted to pick out spanish names for our kids, (since he's latin) that's how we came up with Anthony Christian. Good Luck
jdkjd replied: I've got all the books and have searched all of the sites for Irish names and those are what I have come up with so far.
Ryan is the major obstacle, he's picky but won't do any of the research...
CantWait replied: My dh was the same way, I searched and searched....he said no to everything I threw at him, but still didn't do any of the searching.
Kaitlin'smom replied: my DH name is David....
but hay I understand not everyone likes the name, and there are soooo many of them out there! I think I knew of about 8-10 in school!
Maddie&EthansMom replied:
I have a brother named Jonathan Ryan. His twin's name is Jason Bryan.
I'm not good at names, either. Luckily I married DH who has named both of our children thus far!
MomToJade&Jordan replied: I was thinking about the same thing. Having Johnathan as the middle name makes it tough to find a good first name. I do like Logan and Aidan. I will go searching and see what I can find.
ediep replied: Aidan Jonathan Jonathan Aidan
they both sound nice, but I like Ryan too.
Fynn is cute, I also like Flynn (but it kind of sounds like a last name)
I guess I am no help, sorry
MommyToAshley replied: I like Brody too. It's different and cute.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: I like the name Brody or Pierce. They are both different, but I would use Johnathon as the first name: Johnathon Brody Johnathon Pierce
MomToJade&Jordan replied: I don't know if you have found this site, but it's just a site for Irish names. Here it is:

I thought Brennan was very nice. I think I might name my boy that if I have one. Brennan Johnathan. I like that.
