Ok so DH is really sick right now. Migraine headache induced. He's had it since about 9 pm, it is now 1 am. He still hasn't been able to sleep. He has to work at 7:30 am tomorrow, er - today. I've never called anyone in before but he's already asked me to call him in tomorrow. I'm sure he'll bearly get some sleep by 6:30 when he'd be getting up. SOO since I've never called anyone in sick before, I wanna make sure I sound adult. LOL.. does that sound dumb? Well I mean I'm 22 yo but I sound a little younger on the phone..

Anyway here's what I'm thinking about saying.. Input or suggestions would be great!!

"This is Garred's wife. He was sick all night last night and just barely fell asleep. He's not going to be able to work today."

Okay hows that sound? I just don't wanna sound like a kid or something. I'm rather self-concious about this stuff. wacko.gif

A&A'smommy replied: sounds fine... I have had to call in for my husband a couple of time when he was sick the night before I usually call the night before and leave a message so they get it as soon as they get in instead of waiting until time but if that is not possible...

but I would say something more along the lines of
"this is Garreds wife, insert your name, he was very sick last night and didn't get any sleep, if you need to get in touch this is our number, thank you."

ohhh and you will be fine just be sure to be confident hug.gif

JadensMama05 replied:
Oww what an excellent idea! I'll probably sound better if I leave a message and don't actually have to talk to someone. LOL. Thanks for the support too! smile.gif

JadensMama05 replied: growl.gif No machine.. Guess I'll just have to build up some confidence smile.gif

A&A'smommy replied:
No problem I know how it is.. I use to be REALLY self-concious on the phone too!! hug.gif

amymom replied: I hope it all went well, and I hope Garred is feeling better soon. hug.gif

sparkys2boys replied: hug.gif I think that you will be fine!!! I hope that your DH is feeling better really soon

~Roo'sMama~ replied: Lol I'm the same way - the last time Dh was sick he wanted me to call but I was too chicken and made him do it. blush.gif blush.gif Too bad they didn't have a machine it's so much easier if you don't have to talk to anyone!

I hope your Dh feels better soon. Migraines suck! hug.gif

mckayleesmom replied: I use to have to work from 6 in the morning till 3 when I was a caterer.....I use to have to get up and call them at 5 if I had to call in sick......I was a party girl..so I was an expert.... rolling_smile.gif One of my bosses who was cool would always say..."didn't stop drinking early enough huh?" laugh.gif

Cece00 replied: Thank goodness my husband just has to call into his boss, he doesnt actually work in a place, he's an COSR (sales). I make it a point to never do that for ppl anyway....J would have to be in the hospital for me to call his boss, he's a big boy & can call for himself rolling_smile.gif

A&A'smommy replied: Sorry they didn't have a machine, I hope it went well and that your dh is feeling better!

JadensMama05 replied: Well I called in for DH around 5:30 am. I said my little schpeel and here was our conversation...
The guy who answered: What's he do?
Me: Cook. *he's only been there for 2 months and there's like 4 cooks.. blah blah blah*
Guy: Who are you calling in for?
Me: Garred
Guy: OMG!! Can you hold on?
Me: Yeah...

So here I'm worrying, oh no, there gonna be in trouble without him! What are they gonna do? Blah, blah, blah.

Guy: Ma'am?
Me: Yeah
Guy: Okay it's okay. So-and-so is going to be here today anyway. Sorry about that.
Me: Oh no, it's okay. I'm sorry Garred's not feeling well.
Guy: Well thanks for calling and letting us know.

So I had my little scare of the day. That's why I was worried. Since he's a cook, he can't always easily be covered for and I'd rather have called in the day before but Garred didn't get the migraine and nausea until after they were closed for the night. Luckily it turned out well. smile.gif THanks for the support!

BTW, Garred is feeling much better now. He actually woke up feeling a little bit of a headache yet but now he's back to normal.. if he ever was normal. rolling_smile.gif
