New here too! - Introduction

Like Dana, I found out about parentingclub.com through our good friend Aimee. I'm lucky and live near Aimee, so our boys (who are only days apart) get to play together sometimes. Aimee and I get to play together too, which is especially nice!

This looks like a terrific place and I'm looking forward to getting to making some new friends, and learning a LOT from all the wonderful resources here.

Hi Karen, thanks for the welcome. We lived outside of Champaign/Urbana before moving to the Dallas area. My husband's folks still live there, and mine are living in Geneseo. We're pretty familiar with Illinois. You're kiddo is real cutie, by the way.

My first husband (hate that term, but there you have it) is from Fosston, MN - way up there in the almost Canadian boonies. Dang, ya'll get cold up there!

Hi Josie, yes, that's quite the gap between my kids, isn't it? I pretty much know what it's like to have babies toward both ends of the age spectrum now. I wasn't quite 23 when Michael was born and I was approaching 38 with Gabriel. Can I just go down on record ... it's a whole lot easier when you're younger!! Being pregnant with Gabriel really beat me up physically. I had to have c-sections with both, but a 38 year old body just doesn't have the kind of stamina that a 22 year old one does!

I'm very, very lucky with my older son. He's an angel of a teenager. I know not many parents have a 15 year old boy as loving and helpful as he is. My brother and my husband, good men both, were busy getting into trouble with the cops at that age! Michael has really made caring for Gabriel (who can be quite a bit more demanding that his big brother ever was!) much easier. He absolutely adores his baby brother

Often I tell people that if you can be certain that you'll end up with a "good teenager" that this is the way to have your kids! LOL! No, I really wanted to have two kids much closer together, but divorce got in the way of that particular plan a loooooong time ago. Gabriel is a real gift that I never expected to receive. He's the center of a tremendous amount of love and affection.

Hi back - sure I've been to Ohio and even have a cousin and her family who live in Athens! I visited them several years ago when I was working in the tri-state area. I think that's what they call that area where Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia all run into each other. I was living in West Virginia and working in Kentucky. Wow, what a beautiful part of the country!

I grew up overseas, have moved around in the US since I moved here at 18, and have a big extended family. I've been to graduate school twice and worked for two universities and two corporations. As a result, I've had the privelege of seeing a lot of places and knowing people all around the country.

And thanks for the compliment on the website. I have fun with it! I need to update Gabriel's pages since we now have really CUTE halloween pictures of him too.

loveydad replied: Welcome. I, like you, have a big gap in my kids. My oldest is 17- the next two in line are 5. (twins) , then Tracy (3) NIcky (15 mo) and Carter and Clara (8 months) who i'm about to get full custody. My 17 year old son also has two kids, ages 1 year and 2 months. he's got full custody. They were both born small - 35 weekers weighing 5 lbs each. Peter, the two month old, just recently got off his oxygen.

I'm single now = a single dad!
