six_kids_at_28 replied: YES!!!! I ALWAYS HAD MY KIDS SUCK ON THOSE!! ONE FOR MOMMY! LOL baby.gif laugh.gif smile.gif

MommyToAshley replied: Good thing I didn't read that article when Ashley was little because she wanted NOTHING to do with a paci. rolleyes.gif

It's interesting how the opinions of "experts" change all the time. Guess that just goes to show you that Mommy really does know what is best.

ilovemybaby replied: happy.gif Yeah I heard that. Abby had a pacifier too.
I've also read that co-sleeping is good too... because baby is likely to be in that same state of sleep where they wake/? (can't think of the word) often...

Boys r us replied: I heard that on the news today!! Very interesting!

My2Boyz replied: I heard about this too, I guess it does make sense. I agree that it is strange how these things keep changing.

5littleladies replied: Woohoo!! Lissie loves having a pacifier when she sleeps. happy.gif

coasterqueen replied: I'm not sure I buy it personally. Kylie had a pacifier, though. Megan refuses but she's a thumb sucker.

There were a lot of things from that news story that I wasn't too thrilled about from a breastfeeding mother's stand point.

redchief replied:
True, Dee Dee. Funny thing is the SIDS experts (and perhaps this isn't funny at all) still know very little about what really causes SIDS. The paci idea comes from extended thought that a baby sucking a paci is more in tune to the world and won't sleep as soundly. Who knows?

My2Beauties replied:
I watched the same thing on the news last night that Aimee referred to and they say that co-sleeping is a bad idea! I'm not saying it is, just that SIDS experts agree a baby should be in his/her own bed. I'm not bashing it at all, so please don't think that, I'm just stating what I heard on the news! I thought this was pretty interesting myself!

redchief replied:
Yes, I heard about co-sleeping too. The "experts" suggest the baby sleep in the same room as mom and dad, but not the same bed. smile.gif

beautifullychaotic replied: baby.gif

Yep I heard about that too. The actual study results were out sometime last year or least somebody did a similar study because I remeber hearing about it. I even used it as a arrguement against my anti-paci husband.
Then my son weaned himself off the paci by four months anyways rolling_smile.gif

I have also heard it about co-sleeping. I even had bookmarked a site that listed all the benifits of co-sleeping I will have to find it again and share it with you all.

3_call_me_mama replied: Interesting article, but I don't buy it. Some how when they can't give a reason WHY it helps and just to say it helps doesn't work for me. dry.gif

DansMom replied: If nothing else, it will boost sales for companies that make pacifiers wink.gif

I really like the "same room" component. Being in tune with my baby during sleep, especially in the first year, really strengthened my instincts I feel. We coslept, but if we hadn't for some reason, I would have had him right next to me in the bassinet.

Maddie&EthansMom replied:
I'm with you. wink.gif I'm not one to believe everything I hear. I'm pretty skeptical until I do research of my own.

ilovemybaby replied:
It's ok I didn't take any offence smile.gif I only used that with my mum and dad when I occasionally co-slept with Abby because she wouldn't go to sleep in her bassinet, to get them off my back! LOL

I don't know that I believe that co-sleeping and pacifiers can help reduce SIDS anyway... all those studies are so inconclusive if you KWIM?
