Those are things that grow from the tree to make additional roots...when they come down to the ground, they take root and turn into a new trunk.
You don't have those in Pensacola (I think that's where you live)?
We get lots of them here.

What are those trees called? Maybe I have not taken much notice of my environment, I have lived in Tallahassee & Panama City and have never noticed those trees before.

cameragirl21 replied: you know, I've never asked what they're called. I should ask and find out, that was taken at a public park that I go to regularly, I'll ask them.
Maybe I can sneak out a seedling and send it to you so we can be so evil as to repopulate the panhandle with South Florida trees....

I love taking children's pictures...there is nothing more amazing than conveying the pure, altruistic innocence of a child, not to mention the wonder they have for the whole world....
Notice the things that they stop to look at--a flower, a frog, a bird's nest, etc, are things adults just walk right past and don't even notice...we lose that sense of wonder when we grow up....
of course that's why I refuse to grow up....

I must say though, you all have such gorgeous kids that I'm tempted to become a traveling photorapher so I can photograph them all!
and paradisemommy, I'm dying to see Hawaii, hope to go sometime next year so we'll have to talk when I make those plans.

Kaitlin's mom, I am from Ohio, Toledo to be precise so maybe we ran into each other at some point in time but I left Ohio in the early 90s (when I went to college) and haven't been back since.
Each and every one of you who is a mother is beautiful. There is an amazing beauty in every woman who has given birth to (or adopted) and bonded with her child. It's that beauty that I try so hard to capture in pictures.
You are all beautiful, and I just wanted you all to know that.
