No school today! - Too cold!
MomToMany wrote: Quentin brought home a note from the principal saying school was cancelled today because of the cold. Right now, it's -30 F, and with the windchill, it's like -40 to -60 F with the wind gusts. Man, I LOVE winter in Minnesota !
It will be nice having them here during the day. Ethan misses them SO much when they are at school.
But there will be no playing outside today, though ! I'm not even going to let them get the mail; it's out by the road (rural area), and our driveway is kinda long.
Kaitlin'smom replied: burrrr
well right now its 13 and feels like 5! (Southern OH) so we are warmer but to me its just darn cold.
aspenblue1 replied: that is very cold. We are supposed to get down to 0 here this weekend.
coasterqueen replied: Burrrrr! It's 5 here and only supposed to get up to 12 And colder tomorrow! That's cool they get to stay home
kimberley replied: brrrr chilly! i don't ever remember school closing here for coldness, just snow. they just don't let the kids out for lunch and recess but they still have to go and we had -45*C last week with the wind chill.
enjoy your day!
A&A'smommy replied: wow thats awesome (i think) i wish it would snow here (or acutally get cold!)!!
MomToMany replied: No school today, either! What lucky kids, a 4-day weekend !
MommyToAshley replied: Brrrrr... that is cold. I have goose bumps just thinking about it! I am with Kaitlin on this one, the 13 degrees is cold enough here Dayton, OH! BRRRRRR!
MomofTay&Sam replied: We had 11 inches this week(snow day) it wont melt and more is coming on Monday! It's a bitter cold winter for everyone this year. I have not driven my car in 3 weeks because of the solid ice and snow.
CantWait replied: We kept Robbie home from school on Wednesday, same deal. You said though that they went to school and then came back with a note......what if you weren't home or something like that??? odd how they would do that
MomToMany replied: They brought the note home after school saying school was cancelled the next day. Sorry I didn't make that clear enough ! I was just excited to have them home; it seems like I never get to see them enough. Then their bus driver called me the next day saying that school was called off again.
Unfortunately for them, they will have to go back on Monday, though . It's actually going to get above 0 F!
3_call_me_mama replied: I know what you mean! Last week we had temps that were -35 fahrenheit without calculating the windchill which when factored in brought the temperature down to 50-60 below zero. It was so cold that you couldn't walk outside without your mouth covered because it hurt your lungs to breathe the cold air in. They cancelled school for 3 days, pipes were frozen and cars wouldn't start etc. It was awful trying to keep Cameron inside...
