Nolan is still - non-responsive.....
punkeemunkee'smom wrote: Bill and Taylor and I are leaving for the hospital today. We wanted to go lastnight but my mom asked me to wait until the doctors came in this morning to rule out that he has contracted bacterial meningitis (some forms of which with this illness can be contagious, and my mom and of course we are concerned about Taylor) but I am going crazy and feel can not wait any longer and want to just at least be close enough to go immediately when I need to. Nolan does not respond at all anymore. He did not recognize our sister Colleen when she got there lastnight-he does not have the ability to move when he is asked and shows no sign of knowing anyone or anything around him even if he opens his eyes. His CT scan from lastnight does not show any swelling. I am beginning to believe that my mom has hit a wall in her heart and mind and will not acknowledge to me all the reports she is receiving...I can understand that whole heartedly and so I have to go. I will update you all as soon as I can (probably through Mel) and will try to one more time before we leave. Please keep praying-I know that sometimes it is darkest right before the dawn! Thank you all so much for the love and support that you have shown for Nolan and my family! Thank you for every prayer you have lifted up...we need you to continue with this amazing response Now more than ever!
Abbie

But,we're not giving up -- Nolan is never far from my thoughts and always in my prayers. Aimee has organized a prayer chain and we are all going to be praying for Nolan.
Just be careful sweetie, I know how much you want to be with Nolan, but please make sure they have completely ruled out meningitis before you go to see him.
My heart just aches for all of you, I wish there was something more I could do.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: They believe it is Rocky Mountian...Meningitis is a complication or secondary infection-at this point I don't remember which one. He is at a Children's hospital-one of the best. Lab diagnosis in this illness is long coming but they do believe that it is Rocky Mountian Spotted fever-he is just seeing the worst of it. I think that when a child is this sick they have to rule out EVERYTHING and some of those cultures take 72 hours to grow...
Dee Dee Thank you Aimee or Naomi I will call/text you sometime today on the way there and update you and I will talk to Mel around noon and let her know anything new too....
Everyone else that has been so concerned Thank you so much-someone will update for me!

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Please be safe as you travel. Let me know if you need me down there. It's not far from us. I could bring Tay back to the house or take her for ice cream. I know it's a scary situation for her. But, I also know how it is wanting our kids close in situations such as this.
Call or text me with what hospital he is in. My FIL was down there when he suffered a head injury and I know firsthand how awesome all the doctors are. I will be praying for them as well.
Love you, hun. And PLEASE PLEASE don't hesitate to call me if you need me!! I don't have anything going on and I would be more than happy to be right by your side if you need me.
