Note from the principal

MommyToAshley wrote: We got our first bad note.

Ashley had played with some friends over the weekend and painted her nails. I forgot to have her take the nail polish off before she went to school on Monday. I remembered on Tuesday. Well.. yesterday... an official sounding note was sent home from school with Ashley about how students are not permitted to wear make-up or nail polish (they include the make-up thing because her school goes up to 8th grade). Ashley's record is forever tarnished... LOL. A simple reminder from the teacher to Ashley would have worked just as well.

I love her school, but I do think they are a bit too particular about the dress code. Every other area seems to be more casual (although there is still structure).

stella6979 replied: Ok, now that is ridiculous!!! I understand there is a rule about it and I could see if this was a re-occurring thing with Ashley, but really, a note home? Give the girl a break!

coasterqueen replied: OMG, wow! Make-up I can see, but nail polish? I don't know why I think one is ok and the other isn't. If I had to take nail polish off every time the girls went to school....that would be one big PITA, because they are always wearing nail polish.

So was Ashley upset about it? happy.gif Kylie would have probably freaked out.

MommyToAshley replied:
That's the thing, the teacher never said a word to her about it. The note came home from the principal, so it was sealed. I read it and just casually said that we have to remember to take off your nail polish the night before returning to school. I didn't make a big deal out of it or make it sound like she was in trouble, otherwise she would have been crushed.

TheOaf66 replied: great, you've started a rap sheet on her now

Her permanent record forever has a dark spot

stella6979 replied:
She's never getting into Harvard now!! rolling_smile.gif

mom21kid2dogs replied: We've been busted on nail polish and dangling earrings thumb.gif
Welcome to the pokey, Ashley! tongue.gif

ETA: Oh yeah, and not tucking in her gym shirt (I refuse to do this. The kid looks like Erkel when she tucks~it's insane!!)

msoulz replied:
Perhaps you can get her record expunged - 1-800-call-Sam!

(Oh yeah, he is a Detroit area ambulance chaser . . . .oops, I mean lawyer, but I am guessing he would take on a good nail polish case for the right price!)

luvmykids replied:
I bet it's more of a sparkly pink spot laugh.gif

I too think a note from the teacher would have done the job happy.gif But hey, it's better than Colt's rap sheet, which started with assault rolleyes.gif (They did later change it to something more like not following playground rules....figured I should add the disclaimer laugh.gif )

mckayleesmom replied: Man...McKaylee would get never ending notes home.

Kentuckychick replied: I'll never forget getting sent to the dean's office (we had a principal but she only dealt with the really bad offenses I suppose) in high school once when I was I believe a junior for coming to school without a belt on.

I distinctly remember this because I'd never been sent to the dean's office before and the dean who had been my freshman gym teacher just laughed and was like, "are you kidding me?" when I walked in the door and told him why I was there. Needless to say I did not get in trouble with the dean.

Sometimes I think teachers just get bored and need reasons to get people in trouble.

A&A'smommy replied: wow what a rule no nail polish.. I mean I can understand make up but not nail polish rolleyes.gif

Calimama replied: No nail polish!? That's a little extreme IMO!

Celestrina replied:
I agree, especially if it was the first time. A friendly little reminder is all it would take.

Boo&BugsMom replied:
What is wrong with schools and this kind of garbage??? Honestly. I swear the kids could breathe the wrong way and get expelled these days. rolleyes.gif Kids aren't allowed to be kids anymore. We have this same kind of garbage going on at Tanner's school. As much as I like the school itself, sometimes I am tempted to just yank him out and homeschool him...and I've been close to it in recent days. sleep.gif
