Now that it's Spring Cleaning time... - things you keep putting off
Teesa®© wrote: I had this idea that might give us that extra little push to get things done that we have habits of forever putting off. Like cleaning out that storage room that looks like Katrina hit it, or other projects we've always been "meaning to do", but never seem to quite get around to it. We could post Before and After pix to not only make ourselves get off our butts and "git-er-done", but to also show our accomplishments.
I thought of this because I was going through my Fix It box [clothes to be mended] and found outfits of DD's when she was a baby [she'll be NINE this year ]
I also seriously need to clean my room. The children's rooms are pretty much spotless... but mine looks like the previously mentioned storage room
This is my room ... and you thought your children's rooms were bad?!?!?!
coasterqueen replied: I have SO many things I would like to do. A few of my projects I am definitely going to get done this Spring are:
1 - The girls scrap books for 2006, 2007 and up-to-date for 2008 2 - The girls baby books up-to-date 3 - The girls website up-to-date 4 - Paint the girls ceiling fans (from yucky brown to white/purple) 5 - Make Kylie a fabric corkboard to put pictures on 6 - Have a garage sale to get rid of all the unwanted things in our home (not bad things just we've done some remodeling and now we don't need those things)
That'll get me started.
mckayleesmom replied: Im cleaning today....I need to get rid of a bunch of clothes...get the rest of the boxes out of my house...etc.
Calimama replied: I just need to work on my backyard and garage before DH gets home!
Hillbilly Housewife replied:
Looks like my old basement...
I need to go through my kitchen cupboards again. I tossed a bunch of old tupperware and stuff when we first moved in, in January... and these last 2 months have seemed to make the plastic reproduce. [B]
I need to go through my yarn stash. I have a soundproof room... and I'd love to put our music stuff in it, well some of it is... but there are bags and bags of yarn and half made things.
Also i haven't been bothering to put the laundry away, I've just been leaving it in the baskets... because the weather's wonky here and I'm just gradually switching out the warmer things... but keeping them handy when we get a freaky cold day..
I need to repain the ceiling in the main floor bathroom/laundry room...
Before the summer hits, I'd like to sand and refinish our hardwood floors. At least the main floor... the upper level can wait.
Kaitlin'smom replied: well at least I am not the only one with a messy bedroom.
I did get my nightstand cleaned off so step one and many to go......... I always leave my bedroom till last and never get to it, its also I dunno where to put it so shove it in there.....shame really cause we have a good size bedroom and its never been very clean.....
Teesa®© replied: My bedroom is the catch-all for upstairs. Clean laundry goes in there because I sort it, fold it and put them on hangers all while sitting comfortably on my butt on my bed. The closet is where we put the larger presents that won't fit in the trunk in the basement [I have a lockable trunk and we buy things throughout the years for bday presents]. Taken away toys go in there, special toys like Playdough that I'd rather not be easily accessible go in there.
Sad thing is, my room is cleaner than it was!!
I do work on it when I tell the children to clean theirs. Why would they want to clean their room when Ummy's looks like it does? It's only fair that if they have to, then so do I.
Anthony275 replied: im supposed to get new carpeting in my room soon, which i dont really want (tons of stuff need to be taken out- my desk, etc..) and im supposed to get my walls painted which i dont want either (too many things, pictures i drew) i need to clean out my entire closet soon
kimberley replied: totally looks familiar!
my goal is painting. basement, entry, maybe washrooms and our room. and i want to fix the front garden.
sparkys2boys replied: Ok I would serioulsy go insane in that room I am WAY to much of a clean freak to handle that.
Teesa®© replied: If everyone would quit dumping everything in my room, it wouldn't be so bad. Most things in there, I've no idea what to do with.
Other major projects I need to do [gee, THANKS everyone
*Sand down the childrens' walls in their rooms *Bondo AGAIN *Paint all the walls in their rooms *Paint the stairwells *Paint the foyer *Paint most door frames [all thanks to DS and his crayon/marker trigger happiness *Replace both mirrors in the sliding doors in the foyer [thanks DS AGAIN ] *Sand down and refinish dressers [at least 3] *Re-organize the garage *Fix the scratches in the hardwood floors *Get ALL my personal pix on my puter dated and organized so I can get them onto a CD *Get off my butt and finish the walkthroughs I started for my website *Update all my sites
GAH!!! You may not see me for months now
My3LilMonkeys replied: If I invite you to come look at my closet, will you clean it for me?
My only really big project is laundry. For almost 2 years now I have constantly been behind on laundry and I really need to get caught up and stay caught up.
MoonMama replied: Funny you mention this....
I've been getting into spring cleaning the last couple of days big time! Going threw EVERYTHING! I've been driving DH bonkers.
Our Lil' Family replied: Doing mostly painting here this spring/summer so we can sell the house, hopefully soon! We might do a little planting in the fall, just bushes really.
DillsMommy replied: I really just need to organize, have a garage sale to get rid of a bunch of extra junk, and paint just about every room.
Celestrina replied: Ours looks pretty much the same. DH is always complaining how things in our house are so disorganized, he is embarrassed to have others over, and that he can never find anything. We need to have a little sit-down and discuss that I'm not the only slob and how to keep things up a little better.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Paint the bedroom walls Paint the bedroom trim Put more grout on the tile in the bathroom Paint front porch Replace garden edging Start a veggie garden (I've wanted to do this for two years now) Organize closets Organize basement Stain basement door and back door entry
There are a few more things but that should be a good start!
Crystalina replied: I have a room like that but it's not my bedroom. I'm sure it would be my bedroom but we are redoing the bedroom so we had to put everything in an extra room we have. It's the dumping room. I hate it. My house has very very little closet space though so we have nowhere to put all those extra things. My garage is not finished enough to put things in there. It's more of a half barn, half garage and I'm afraid moisture will ruin things out there.
My2Beauties replied: Oh gosh, I was thinking about this the other day, we have accumulated so much more crap since we've moved into our new house, it's a little ridiculous.
Anyways we need to:
Go through Hanna's room and toys, throw out tons of stuff, give to Goodwill Paint the entire house again (I hate the colors I chose now, we just painted real quick to move into the house because the colors before were hideous, I mean hideous) Put down new flooring in bathrooms and kitchen Get new carpet Clean out closets, they are all stuffed with a bunch of BS Re-do landscaping outside, I hate it now Get new windows put in Get new doors, inside and out!
