OK, Educate me on the pros and cons - Colloidal Silver (no debates!)

What are the benefits? How do you take it? Is it safe for kids? I know I can research it online but I want to hear from real people
Danalana replied: I'd tell you if I had any idea what it was.
Cece00 replied: I've never heard of it.
gr33n3y3z replied: lol me to it sounds dangrous

sounds like BS to me to each its own
cameragirl21 replied: it has its benefits but your skin will turn blue if you use too much, and not all at once, it has a way of building up in your body. it's a photographic technique--your skin turning blue in sunlight due to the silver in your blood AND it's irreversible, there is no way to get the blue out. Rocky is a big fan of the stuff, you may want to ask her. careful though--she and her kids are olive skinned so they're less likely to turn blue than the blue eyed, blonde, light skinned Monica clan.
PrairieMom replied: I tried it for a few weeks, and didn't notice a change in my thrush, also my witch Dr took me off it, he said it was "too strong" I don't really know much about the stuff
lisar replied: I have never heard of it either.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: In genuine collodial silver your skin should NOT turn blue. The silver that turns your skin blue is ionic silver and although it has some medicinal properties (some say ) it is also not as 'safe' to use in large amounts....
Hillbilly Housewife replied: The real stuff is safe, will not turn you blue.
We use it around here. NO, we do not use it every day. NO, we don't use it for the heck of it, we only take it at the onset of something... and we buy the good stuff.
Ionic silver is CRAP CRAP CRAP. You have to ge the GOOD STUFF, which is fairly expensive. Well, not that expensive... but 15.99$ for 100mL. I have the Organika brand, it's de-ionized water and 5 to 6 ppm colloidal silver at 99.99% pure (which means every 5th or 6th particle in a million particles of the de-ionized water is silver... lol) and that's not bad. Below that, it won't really be effective, and anything above 9ppm I wouldn't even take, as much as I praise the stuff. Usually anything above 9ppm is ionized. But they don't tell you that.
Don't take it for more than 2 weeks in a row, and no more than a teaspoon for an adult. (which is about what, 5 ml?)
I give about 10 drops to the older kids, and 6 drops to my youngest, from the dropper in the bottle. I give it to them when they start being sick, either lethargic, feverish, snot nosed etc... and within a few days, usually, the sickness is gone, they don't get it.
What the silver does, basically, is kill the single cell organisms that your body does not recognize, such as the cold bacteria. You can spray the stuff, mxed with water, in your plants to kill fungus...
it's really neat stuff.
Like everything else, though, you can find as much negative info as you can positive info. I don't think it's any more of a crockery than acupuncture. After all, laboratory tests have determined that indeed the solution does kill harmful bacteria while leaving your body's regular bacteria alone, and that used properly, no harmfull effects appeared.
I'm sorry - but taking some colloidal silver for a few days now and then is NOT going to turn anyone any bluer than putting on a pair of silver earrings, a silver necklace, silver bracelet, or rubbing up against something silver. What people seem to be failing to understand is that the minute amount of silver that there actually is in the mixture, is so small, yet so potent against the bacteria... it is a natural agent, after all. And well, money attracts money - so you won't find a doctor involved with pharmaceuticals that will readily prescribe it, since they get all this free stuff from pharmaceutical companies.... however no doctor will tell you you shouldn't use it. Alternative health practitionners, though, will readily tell you to take it... but their salaries aren't helped along by synthetic drugs.
Turn your skin blue.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I have never heard of it and we're pretty organic/supplement takers over here. But that doesn't say much, just that I'm surprised that it isn't something I'm familiar with since DH takes a lot of supps. I will ask my FIL who will be visiting this weekend, since he knows just about everything there is about supplements benefits. He's like a witch doctor when he comes. Pills, droppers, just about everything under the sun! Will get back to you.
