OMG! My aunt just called me - she's leaving - her husband and needs a place to stay...
Hillbilly Housewife wrote: Man...she's asked me before if "if ever she needed a place to stay, could she sleep on my couch"... guess that time is now!
She'd been having problems with her husband for a while now, and she just called me asking if it was ok if she brought some of her clothes over, things weren't going well at home. I have room, that's not an issue - but my basement is a MESS!!!!! I haven't gotten a chance to do laundry )other than the necessities) over the last 2 or 3 weeks, so my basement is piled with stacks of dirty clothes! It also smells like cat down there... lol (not urine, just...cat.)
So I've just called DH (Thank God he's at home today) and begged him to move all the clothes in the basement to the storage room/laundry room (also in the basement), to vaccuum big time, and to spray some Febreeze everywhere.
He's got a dentist appt at 10:40 this morning, and she won't be dropping her stuff off until later this afternoon, so hopefully everything will be clean by the time she gets there.
(guess I should have kept m,ore up to date on my laundry instead of washing a few days worth of clothes at a time!!!!)
MommyToAshley replied: It's nice of you to give her a place to stay. I am sorry she has to go through this. But, at least she has you! I am sure she won't mind the laundry. I think we all have that pile of laundry... I know I do. I HATE doing laundry!
booey2 replied: Glad you are able to help out your aunt, sorry she has to go thru this. The laundry in our house seems to get done but DH still hasn't learned to fold my stuff or the kids stuff yet.
Shooter replied: On that topic, how DOES one fold a bra anyway?
kit_kats_mom replied:
Good question! You fold it in half (cup to cup) then stuff all of the straps & other gear into the back of one cup...like a little mountian...or big mountian. ROFL
And for all of the guys out there, DO NOT wash coats (especially full length wool ones) unless asked specifically. My best coat fell off of the hangar into the hamper while DH was unemployed. He decided to do laundry (a very sweet gesture, he's a gem)and washed and dried it. I cried when I found it. We laugh about it now but I always do all of the laundry now.
Shooter replied: *busily writing notes*
MommyToAshley replied: LOL!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: LOL!! I just don't fold em.... much easier! heh heh! I don't fold underwear, either.
I don't let DH do laundry either...unless I've already separated the clothe piles. Because I USED to have a lovely white towel set...now they're pink.
And I USED to have a gorgeous rabbit hair sweater....which shrunk and lost a lot of hair.
So now.....he doesn't TOUDH the laundry unless I've left him a note asking him to do a specific pile...and I leave him instructions on the water temp, and which soap to use... heh heh
Kaitlin'smom replied:
LOL thats good to see, maybe you should pass that on to other DH's LOL
hehe I also dont let DH do laundry, I used to have peach and white rugs (bathroom ones) now they are grey and white! Now I need to wash the toilet lid cover witht he black rug and I will have a new set. His mother went out and bought new bathroom rugs for him (well me). I did think it was kinda funny and glad it was not something like my cashmere sweatters!
Mommieto2Girls replied: That's great your giving your aunt a place to stay. I wish her the best. I wouldn't worry to much about the laundry, she should understand.
CantWait replied: Best wishes with your aunt, it's good to know she's got a place to stay with you. I don't think she'll really mind the mess, I'm sure she'll understand that you've been very busy with Zach and the new little one inside of you.
How is your pregnancy going so far anyway?
Hillbilly Housewife replied: It<s going great! I<ve only gained 5 pounds so far!!! And I'm really proud of that...because last time around, I gained over 70 pounds...most of those in the first 7 months... heh heh
Kaitlin'smom replied: how did DH do with the clean up?
Hillbilly Housewife replied: He did SOOOO well. He cleared up all the laundry (Thank god!) and put it all in the laundry room, in the same piles, and since they were in piles, he even did 2 laods. AND he actually SCRUBBED the bathroom.
((((I was so impressed when I got home..he got nookie. ))))
mckayleesmom replied: lol...
Kaitlin'smom replied: glad he did good!
