OMG OMG OMG ..WHEWWWW HEW!

Boys r us wrote: I'm SOOOOO excited!!!!

Remember when I was first finding out that I was pregnant, the week after I found oiut I came down with a horrible case of the Flu and I coldn't take Tamiflu b/c I was pregnant and it lasted forever! Well, last week I had my annual review with my boss and she said, Nichole...why don't you go thru HR and Liberty Mutual (our Short term disability insurance comp via work) and apply for Short term disability for all of those days you were out with the flu..then you'll get your PTO back.(you have to miss 8 consecutive days of work to qualify for STD)

Well, I didn't apply for it initially b/c that insurance company is such a rip off...everytime anyone from work applies for STD gets denied the first round and if they're lucky and they fight for it, they MIGHT get approved the 2nd go round.
It was just more trouble than I was ready to deal with at the time.

But now almost 2 months later...having 8 more days of PTO back in my bucket sounds pretty good, so I applied for the disability but I didn't get my hopes up!

Well, they just called me and said I was approved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I get those 8 days reimbursed and put back in my vacation bucket!!!!!

Boys r us replied: Jen, I guess I did use too much "lingo" basically, I have 6 weeks of vacation time every year...(paid time off..PTO) that time I have to manage between vacation and sick days.

If any employee is sick for 8 consecutive days then they can apply for what is called Short term disability through an insurance company that my company contracts to act on their behalf. This insurance company looks at your claim and gets your medical records from your doctor and makes a decision about whether you were REALLY sick enough to miss that amount of time and have it covered.
If they decide your time off is legit, then they approve your case and basically pay our company for the time I was out and then my company reimburses me with my days off that I had to initially use for my illness!
