OMG! THIS BABY IS HUUUUGGGEEEE!
indywndy_04 wrote: Ok - I had my ultrasound and the fluid level is perfect....ssshhheewww....they were worried it was low. Well, the reason it feels like it is low is because I am ALL BABY!!! I am 35 weeks and the u/s tech said he should weigh about 5-5lbs or so, Jake weighs in at 8 1/2 pounds right now! HELLOOOO - I still have almost 4 weeks TO GO!!!! I am freaking out! She weighed him 5 or 6 times double checking and she gave me the lowest possible number. She said sometimes they are off by a 1 or 1 1/2 but she told me that this isn't because she did it so many times to rule out it being incorrect because she couldnt believe how big he was already. So, now they are projecting him to be 11 1/2 pounds or more!!!!
I see the doctor tonight, do you think he will up my c-section date because of how big he is????
lovemy2 replied: It is scary when they tell you that BUT they told me Dylan even being born 9 days early because of my scheduled c-section would be well over 8 lbs - he weighed in at 6 lb 13 oz......so while they may be right - they could also be wrong - I would be careful though of having the c-section too early - is it already scheduled early??
Mommy2BAK replied: WOW! Sometimes they are soo off though, like with Blakely I had 3 doctors telling me that "this isn't gonna be a very big baby, so just be prepared" so of course we were ready for a premie.... then they weighed her right after she was born and my jaw dropped when the nurse said 8lbs. 6oz.
indywndy_04 replied: It is scheduled 1 week early right now. I really doubt he will do it any earlier, but I dont think my water will stay in tact as big as this kid is! lol I had one child weighing in at 10lbs, so I can tell that this one is just as big, you can just see on the ultrasound how big he is. So, in saying that, I think they are right. But, I have to get another u/s next week too for the same check (amnio levels and weight) up until he is delivered. My doctor is very cautious, so I doubt he will take him earlier then what he thinks he should. Although, I am wishing at times because I am soo uncomfortable, but I will do whatever is best for the baby. I just can not believe how big he is.
moped replied: I have to agree with some others that the u/s isn't always correct - they are usually off by a couple pounds
But great that everything else is ticking along!
indywndy_04 replied: I hope you girls are right, but my husband is 6'5 - 275lbs big big guy, not fat he works out all the time so he is just big. I am 5'8 - refuse to disclose my weight!! lol
Hubby weighed 12lbs at birth and I weighed 10lbs.
I will cross my fingers that the u/s is off by atleast 2 lbs!!! haa haa
boyohboyohboy replied: wendy they told me that jake was going to be 11 pounds and when the delivered him early, he was only 7, they are not always right on...
moped replied: I was freaked too when they told me Jack was well over 10 pounds - my husband is 6'7 so I was freaked, he came out 9.4
indywndy_04 replied: Ok, I will relax then. Sheww, thank you girls for telling me that. My first baby they measured him to be 9.7 and three days later he was born at 9.10, so with him they were dead on. That is all I had to base it on though, so it is good to know that he might not be so big.
lovemy2 replied: All I can say is thank god you are having a c-section - talk about sqeezing something the size of a watermelon out a hole the size of a pea shhhhheeessss...
moped replied: Nice reminder for the poor girl - LOL Kidding!
indywndy_04 replied: UGH!!!!
moped replied: And you are having a C anyways - so no problem on the size!~
Jack was big and plump and clean and healthy when he came out - it was great!
boyohboyohboy replied: for your own sanity you might want to skip over these remarks! you are going to be fine, and you said your other kids were on the larger size, so you are used to this! going to be a piece of cake! or the whole cake, but whose counting!
indywndy_04 replied: OHHHH you guys are killing me here!!! LOL !!!!
boyohboyohboy replied: Just trying to add a little smile to the tension, I thought you felt..
msoulz replied: Yup, my Jake was estimated to be 7 - 7 1/2 pounds the day before he arrived at 8 lbs 10 oz. But I figured if a tech had done the us then the estimate may have been more accurate - the doc did it.
indywndy_04 replied: It did, I'm laughing....promise...
Mommyof3 replied: They were wrong with Mackenzie too. They said she would be over 8 1/2lbs. and she was only 6lbs. when she was born. The lady in the room next to me was very sweet and she had delivered a 14lb. baby vaginally. I had a c-section and couldn't even imagine pushing out a 14lb. baby!!!
moped replied: 14 lbs seriously!!!!!!!!!!
WOW - that would almost be in the world records
indywndy_04 replied: Heck no!!! I couldnt imagine pushing out a 14 lb baby!! HOLY COW!!! My sister delivered an 11 lb baby vaginally and it was a site, believe me. It freaked me out that something that big could come out something that small.
I will post his weight check each week to see if he is still on schedule to be that big or not.
msoulz replied: That is just wrong!!!
julesmom replied: Delurking to say....
With my 2nd, I was told he'd be around 9lbs just like his brother who was 9lbs 4oz via c-section. I had my 2nd via c-section 2 weeks early bc he was breech and he was 9lbs 5oz! So, if I went to 40 weeks, who knows how big he would have been.
On the other hand, my 3rd was a girl. I was told she'd be like the others, around 9lbs. Same OB.
She came 2 1/2 weeks early and was 6lbs 7oz. I was scheduled for a c-section on a Thurs. and went into labor on Sunday before. I had a section anyway though.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Oh my gosh you guys, I thought my 9.6 pounds baby was huge! Good thing you are having a c-section. I almost died (sarcastically) pushing Aiden out, I can't imagine any bigger. YIKES!!!
Jamison'smama replied: they missed it with me too--they were certain Jack would be well over 10 lbs, he looked HUGE and I was HUGE but he was a little over 8.
Either way, a big healthy c-section baby is great!!!
My3LilMonkeys replied: My Dr. was wrong in the opposite direction...they told me Madison would be a small baby, around 6 lbs., and she was born a week early at 9lb 1 oz!
DillsMommy replied: Try not to worry too much, I've heard of doctors being wrong alot of the time. I'm sure you'll do just fine.
I'm kinda nervous, the doctor has never really said how big they think Peyton will be. And Dylan was 8lbs 10.5 oz so I bet I get another big boy too!
