OMG... very classy new restaurant... - delicious, but expensive!!!
Hillbilly Housewife wrote: We went out to dinner last night, since we had our sitter booked and no place to go.... it was amazing...but expensive. We tried a new restaurant - had I known, I wouldn't have worn jeans... this place was amazing. Very classy. With draperies and red lighting, roses, candles... and there I was, idiot in jeans. Thankfully, I wasn't the only one.
Anyways...I had a Feuillete d'Escargot. (for you english folks... lol a Snail Pastry Puff. ) I had a Bison steak, with greek potatoes and veggies... as an appetizer, DH fad Calamari as an appetizer, and had a steak and lobster dinner. Mmm mmm mmmm! We swapped bites.
We had a bottle of white wine too.
For desert... OMG! We had this small slice of cake... chocolate cake with chocolate mousse with chocolate fudge type bottom, with nuts... with this sort of cream on the side, with caramel and chocolate swirls in it. Heavenly!!
Guess how much the dinner cost... go ahead... we were joking: Happy anniversary, AND happy birthday, AND happy mother's day AND Father's Day...
in total - it cost us 140$, and that wasn't including the 25$ tip we left.
But it was goooooood.
booey2 replied: Sounds yummy, we went out last weekend for my sisters 35th and there were 6 of us and the bill was almost $800 (that included 3 bottles of wine, about 10 martinis, and 8 Manhattans). I also got to try Cherries Jubilee but couldn't finish it as it was too sweet for me.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Glad you enjoyed yourself!!
C&K*s Mommie replied: that sounded delicious Rocky. Price is no comparison when there is good food, and the rare opportunity visit a nice rest. that is not normally among the list of choices.
Glad that you were able to get out for awhile, and enjoy yourselves.
~~*Missi*~~ replied: glad you had a good time a good meal and 140$ for all that doesn't seem to be to expensive.
mom21kid2dogs replied: Sounds yummy!! Next time you'll have to dress up for the occasion. I love the opportunity to dress up!!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: it wasn't expensive for the food we had... it was expensive compared to the 40$ we usually spend at a restaurant, including food for the kids. My bad.
Maybe I should have been more specific....
C&K*s Mommie replied: BTW... had you ever had the Feuillete d'Escargot, before anywhere else? What prompted you to try it, if you had not?
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Well I've had Escargot plenty before, usually in garlic btter sauce, so no surprise there...
the other choices were salad, onion soup, calamari, shrimp, crab puffs...
I've had them all - but I'd never had Escargot made that way before, so thought, why not.
C&K*s Mommie replied: sounds great, I have never had Escargot before, but the pastry suonded delicious.
coasterqueen replied: Mmmmm, sounds good! I love going to fancy restaurants, but the only time I get to go to them is for work. They are the only types of places our members eat at. I couldn't afford it otherwise. We always order calamari, but I've not been brave enough to try it.
fashionmumofboys replied: Wow, sounds like you had some yummy food.
Glad you had a great time.
