Oddest question I have been asked, yet - ended up being a long post

C&K*s Mommie wrote: The oddest question I have rec'd yet came by a stranger, he asked:
Are they from the same daddy?? huh.gif This question was preceded by asking if they were twins. huh.gif

With the girls, we have rec'd some double takes, and maybe people are wondering if they are really mine (or ours, if we are together) I do not know what people think, but I know we have had some odd questions over their short lives:

~~Are they yours? dry.gif
~~Are they twins? (I am not bothered by this nowadays at all, but some of the questions came when Kel was clearly a baby in a stroller at a few months old, and Christian was walking and looking like a toddler huh.gif )
~~Is their father caucasian? (uhhh....that is really none of their business to even ask)
~~Is that a girl? (referring to Kel, since her hair was short most of her life)
~~Is it a girl? (when I tell them Christian's name, they take a double look and sometimes the question has slipped out)

Going back to the twins question. I know they look like twins, and for anyone to ask the question now that Kel is older does not bother me, one ounce. If they ask, I tell them that they are 17mos apart. But I know they still resemble each other.
Here is a pic I took the other day as we were leaving, and going through them yesterday I was stumped that one pic was Kel who looked like Christian, but the next pic I saw was in fact Christian!

Here is the pic that had me duped, and when I showed Chris he was duped too: She looks alot like Christian here.

BAC'sMom replied: How rude! ohmy.gif I just don't understand people sometimes. They both just beautiful girls. wub.gif

coasterqueen replied: I have heard from many couples that they get asked if their children are really theirs or one or the others. I don't know why. Even if they weren't what's the big deal and what does it matter? rolleyes.gif

I do agree your girls look like twins in many ways. wub.gif My sister and I are almost 6 years apart. If you look at a picture of me when I was 2 and then of my sister when she was 2 we look like twins no doubt about it. It scared my mother to death that decided she would never have any other kids. Not sure why, but that's mom. happy.gif Now my sister and I really look NOTHING alike, IMO.

luvmykids replied: growl.gif I've been asked a few times if the kids were mine .... people just can't control their weird curiosities! I know they usually don't have bad intentions but it's irritating just the same! hug.gif

3xsthefun replied: Wow! That is rude of those people!

Your girls do look a lot a like..almost like twins. wub.gif

amynicole21 replied: Yea, I feel ya. We get that a lot, too obviously. rolleyes.gif As long as they aren't rude about it, I usually answer their questions politely. Once, DH flabbergasted the cashier at the drug store so badly that she processed all of the coupons twice and we got a mega pack of diapers for $4! LOL! laugh.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: I agree too that they resemble each other, and I welcome questions. Any and all questions. I am sure I have asked my fair share of 'offbeat' questions, so I could never be mad at anyone for asking a question.

luvbug00 replied: I feel ya girls! Nicole your girls do look alike soo cute!!! YOurs too Amy! wub.gif

I get this ALL THE TIME!!!! but mostly i get

are you the nanny?
what do her parents look like? huh.gif
is this your little sister?
is she yours?
she's so pale is her dad white?
your how old??

ahhhhhh

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: People can be strange! My MIL is pretty blunt (so I could see her asking something like that) and it was hard for me at first, but I've learned that she rarely ever means anything rude by it. She's just curious in a very innocent way and it just happens to come out all wrong! laugh.gif Anyhow, your girls are BEAUTIFUL and I do agree, they look a lot alike, especially now that they are older. wub.gif

MommyToAshley replied: I can see asking the twins question because they look so much alike. They're both so beautiful. wub.gif

However, some of the other questions about the father and whether or not they are your children is just plain rude. ohmy.gif mad.gif

The only real odd questions I got was when I was PG. Around the time I was 6 months, most people thought I was full term and would make comments like "you look like you are going to pop any minute" or they would say, "wow, you are only 6 months... are you having twins?" DH got a big kick out of it and I didn't let it bother me. I just think some people speak before they think.

jcc64 replied: Many times, I've been asked if my kids were adopted, probably b/c none of them looks anything like me, but probably mainly b/c they are clearly of asian origin. Depending on the way the question is asked, it usually doesn't bother me.

Mom2BNTN replied: Some people simply do not think before they speak and then it comes out sounding stupid or even down right rude. huh.gif

MamaJAM replied: I've been asked that IN FRONT OF MY CHILDREN!!!!!!!!!!!!! growl.gif There are a few 'larger' age gaps between some of my kids...and I have been asked if they all have the same father by several people (idiot shoppers in stores - two sales clerks and a waitress) over the years. It REALLY ticks me off.

Some people are just too rude. mad.gif

paradisemommy replied: oh i can totally relate..people are SO ignorant..the other day i was in a pet store with taven and skyler..this lady walks up to me and looks straight at skyler and asks (to her).."do you look like your daddy?"..i was like thinking to myself..wth? but i bit my tongue and didn't say a word...

on a flip side..my sister and i used to always get asked if we were twins while we went out (we were really close) and there is 8 years between us..i used to just think..man are people THAT stupid?? emlaugh.gif

ashtonsmama replied: How wierd. People are so nosy and ask strange questions sometimes...I'm sure I'll get the "are they twins" question alot with Ashton and the new baby when they are both a little older, since they'll only be about 11 months apart...
rolleyes.gif
Your girls are gorgeous obviously...and I'm still jealous...
