Oh dear...

Boys r us wrote: last night we were laying in the bed and all of a sudden Rick's phone went off like he had a text message..about 10 til midnight. I was like WTF? So he got up and looks at his phone and he immedietely says, " I can't believe it, I won it!" I knew instantly what he was talking about..he has his ebay account send him text messages to his phone when he gets out bid or he wins an auction. So..I knew he'd won something on Ebay..I just had no idea what..I figured it was some computer crap or something...So I just ignored him and he said, "NICHOLE...I just won an auction for a Chevy Tahoe on Ebay for 7 thousand less than book value"

Uhhhh COME THE F*@$ again...u did WHAT????? YOU BOUGHT A NEW CAR ON EBAY???? OMG...I didn't know whether to be mad at him for doing that without telling me or be happy(b/c I do sort of like them). anyhow, he told me it was only going to cost $700 to have it shipped here..I told him he was nuts and he wasn't having anything shipped here without looking at it first and making sure it's what he paid for! So he's going to fly to Detroit today or tomorrow to make sure it's as perfect as the guys says it is and then he is going to drive it home( 10 hours.....)

I told him I'd kill him if he ever pulled another stunt like this again! Buying cars off of ebay..I'm not so sure about that!

gr33n3y3z replied: I'm not an EBay person I know too many friends that get ripped off there or it takes for ever to get the stuff. I guess if you use pay pal its ok still not sure I like to see what I'm buying in my hand.

Some place on the computer you can run the vin # to see the repair history on that truck I think its www.lemons.com but not sure

I know what you all mean..... my dh is an ebay freek, buying stuff for his truck... get's really good deals, and looks in to everything before the final bid, but still..... I'll be sitting here and someone will knock on the door.... if they say UPS, or FEDEX then I know he's won something.... Our whole shed is full of stuff he got of ebay....

Some deals are good, just have to take time to do the reserch on the item, and make sure your getting what you want......

Boys r us replied: I'm still in utter shock..but it's a nice one! It's a 2004, so it couldn't be in too bad of shape. He faxed Rick a copy of the car fax report and Rick is scheduled to fly out of roanoke tomorrow at 3pm, he'll spend the night there and drive back wednesday! I guess my mind is eased b/c he's not paying him anything until he gets there and drives it. So, if it's not in good condition then the only thing we will have lost is OUR AIRMILES he used to buy his and my dad's plane ticket..Hmmph..those airmiles were supposed to be for free plane tickets for Rick and I to keywest!

GavinsMommy replied: Eh...I'm not sure about that either. I've had some bad experiences w/ Ebay buys. Occasionally I'll get something really nice as described but sometimes you get the whole....I'm only human so if I missed something, forgive me...and then you get something totally NOT as described. The whole "I'm only human" deal I think is a crock sometimes!

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I wouldn't worry so much. I'm only saying this b/c Scotty sells cars/trucks on ebay for the dealerships he works for. He has sold anything from Jaguars to Ford F150s. They are GREAT cars that he is selling, too. It is just another way for them to make money outside of that little area. I bet the Tahoe is very nice! It sounds like he got a great deal on it, too. I'm sure it was a program car that they bought at auction with that low of mileage on it! Let us know how it turns out.

And I would really let him know that he should consult you before doing something that extreme next time! I'm sorry about the airline miles!

jcc64 replied: I'm assuming with only 14K it's probably still under warranty, and with a carfax report, you'd know if there was anything really wacky in its past, so if dh knows anything at all about cars, he'll probably do ok with the deal. But that's a pretty major purchase with no consult with you before the fact. Maybe that's the way you guys handle your finances, but if it was my dh, I'd be pretty pissed bc all of our $$$ is joint.
