Oh no! not again!
~Roo'sMama~ wrote: I am getting mastitis AGAIN. I have had a very sore right boob all day but I thought it was my thrush (which had gone away but now has been getting worse over the last few days ) going into my ducts but now I have a bit of a fever and the tell-tale big red spot on my breast. Why oh why do I get this so much?! This will be the third time since Allie was born - and I had it twice while nursing Andrew. It's a good thing Allie refuses to take a bottle because if she'd take one I'd be very close to quitting BF right now!!
ETA I just realized that I've made two posts today and they were both whining and complaining ones. Sorry guys.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Gosh that really sucks.
I hope you can treat it and aren't down for too long.
gr33n3y3z replied: what causes that? I hopr you get better hun
Sam & Abby's Mom replied: I've been lucky not to ever have that,,,,,but my sister has had it and I know how painful it is. Hang in there, girl ! I hope you're feeling better soon.
wcs40110 replied: That sucks so much its not funny, I woundnt blame you if you were able. Dakota only took very few nipples, extra picky.
MommyToAshley replied: I'm so sorry.
Hope you are back to your old self in no time.
moped replied: I don't know anything about it but is there anything the doc can give you - I am so sorry, it sounds terrible Sara!
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Ugh, Sarah, that sounds awful. I hope you get over it soon and are feeling better in no time. Keep up the good work.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Thanks ladies. I think I'm going to make it without antibiotics again like the last time. I feel really yucky today but the pain isn't as bad, so that's good.
Lisa I don't know why I get it so much, except I did read on kellymom.com that having mastitis in the past can make you more likely to get it again. i'm just lucky I guess.
Oh and I decided to try buying a gerber nuk bottle for Allie - she takes the gerber nuk paci and I saw an add in a baby magazine for the bottle. The nipple on the bottle is supposed to be shaped just like the paci so maybe she will take that one. I'm not going to quit BF'ing, but I need to get her to take a bottle because Dh and I are supposed to go to his employee picnic in a couple weeks and I think we were planning on not taking the kids. And we'd love to get out for a date soon too - and she's been eating so darn frequently so I NEED to get her to take a bottle!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I'm so sorry
gr33n3y3z replied: is that like a clogged milk duct?
~Roo'sMama~ replied: A clogged milk duct can cause mastitis because it gets infected, but this time I didn't feel like there was a clog anywhere.
gr33n3y3z replied: oh ok I hope you are feeling better bc I had clogged Milk ducts before that alone hurts
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Thanks Lisa I called my doctor today and got an antibiotic so hopefully I will start feeling better really soon. I was trying to make it without treating it, but the pain is just getting worse and the redness is spreading, and my fever isn't going away.
Allie is only 5 months old and this is the third time I've had it since she was born- I hope it doesn't keep up like this the whole time I'm nursing her.
