Oh yeah - I forgot update on my gallbladder

My2Beauties wrote: I went to have an u/s done on Friday and the stupid hospital failed to find the numerous amount of gallstones that I have mad.gif This is why I'm sooo glad I decided to get the heck outta dodge, I'm so happy I chose not to let that doctor operate on me. Anywhoo - the simplest and most non-invasive (and cheapest and least painful, actually painless, by the way) test they could have done on me they failed to do. So the u/s tech said I'm not supposed to say anything but do you see these white dots here, I said yes, she said those are gallstones. I said is that a lot? She said yes it's quite a few. So, my doc gets the final results today and is supposed to call me to schedule a surgery date. I'm going to try for the first week in Feb. Anywhoo - just thought I'd update everyone. I definitely have gallstones and I definitely need surgery sooner rather than later. Oh yeah and the bleeding has stopped for about a week now, keep your fingers crossed that is done and over with too rolleyes.gif

Danalana replied: LeaAnn, I have a friend who had that surgery done, and it wasn't bad at all--you'll do fine! I hope you get it taken care of soon.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I'm so glad they found out what was wrong and are taking care of it. hug.gif Prayers that the surgery and recovery go smoothly for you. hug.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: hug.gif TBH if you can get it done sooner do it, I woudl hate for you to have another attack, and they can end up blocking you up and then send you in to real distress. hug.gif DH had his taken out years ago.

mckayleesmom replied:
Ya..I would vote on sooner rather then later...Since mine tore and the stones escaped...one about the size of a marble got caught in my bile duct and they had to do a second procedure to remove it..They did it with a scope down my throat and into my stomach area.... growl.gif Also..your gallbladder might seem minimal, but you don't want to mess around with it..it can do lots of damage to your liver.

My2Beauties replied: Thanks guys! Yeah I definitely am not going to wait around to have another attack...that was the definitely horrible and I do not want to go through that again. I am shooting for the first week in February, that's 4 weeks away. Gives me time to get everything in order with work and Short Term Disability paperwork etc...plus its a good time with work. We have W-2's printing next month and I cannot see me being out when they're printing, my boss would have a fit LOL! I don't actually print them but he's so involved int he process that he has no time to back me up on my duties.

jem0622 replied: So sorry for all the frustration! I hope they take care of you ASAP!

Brias3 replied: Thanks for the update, I've been wondering how you're doing!

Continue to KUP and good thoughts being sent your way that this gets nipped in the bud soon!

holley79 replied: When they found mine they just handed me a slip of paper and said, "Here if you have any severe pain you have stones just go to the ER." I called my surgeon. rolling_smile.gif

Cece00 replied: I had emergency gallbladder surgery and its sooooooooo not a big deal @ all.

You go in, they put you under, remove it laproscopically, staple up the 4 *tiny* incisions, have you drink water and have you pee. You are gone & home like 4 hrs after the surgery.

They take the staples out a few days later.

I went out drinking & partying for Mardi Gras 5 days after my surgery tongue.gif

My2Beauties replied:
thumb.gif That is such good news. Hey mind if I ask....do you have any scars from the surgery? My mom has only one really teeny tiny one that you can barely see because of her tan. However, I have another friend who had it done laprascopically (sp?) and hers got infected (don't know how) and hers are horrible. They're raised up really bad and very very dark. I'm thinking hers are that way because of the infection but I'm wondering if maybe my mom just got extremely lucky too happy.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: DH had his done years ago same way but I only notice 1 of the 4 scars, and its really not even that noticable. I think you will be fine as long as they dont get infected

Cece00 replied:
It will be 4 small scars. One on the bottom of your belly button, one around the middle of your torso, and two of the right side of your belly. You can only see 2 of mine now, the other 2 are basically invisible. Laproscopic surgery is MUCH MUCH easier on the body than traditional surgery.
